Sounds like a great souvenir. I would only want it if I could travel on the real train. But it's probably booked up forever. Demand for seats seem overwhelming. It's like a business class plane ticket price-wise. I saw the train in 2017 up close at Kyoto station. It is magnificent. Edited April 17, 2019 by sandiway Link to comment
JR 500系
More poison from Tomix… it's getting hard to resist... Can Kato quickly do something for us to compare? 😛 Link to comment

katoftw
Saw that. Still no thanks. Tomix really seems to be rushing and flooding the market with limit run special trains currently. 1 Link to comment
Sheffie
I’m not really happy with the idea of rushing to put money down on a train based on a glossy promo video, before it’s too late and they’re sold out. In some cases they aren’t even showing a photo of how the final paint job will look, just a grey pre-production model. Link to comment
Kiha66
I have to say the preproduction model paint is looking a little shabby, but that's to be expected with a 3d printed version. I'm sure the production version will be fine. Link to comment
nah00
I like the livery on the 281 series better than the Shinkansen but it's out of my area so I'm thankfully spared. Link to comment
bill937ca
I came across a review of a still relatively new (November 2018) interesting Tomytec single track high viaduct station along with information on the prototype. Hobby Search does not list this item, but Hobby World Japan does and it is available. Something different. https://joshinweb.jp/train/udui.html?ACK=TOKU&CKV=181102 https://hlj.com/1-150-scale-station-collection-sta001-sanko-line-uzui-station-tmt29025 Edited May 3, 2019 by bill937ca Link to comment

Das Steinkopf
Who cares about that Disney abomination there's a new release of KoKi's and containers, it's nice to see the KoKi 102-103's come out in the updated livery as the number of blue KoKi's being released has been rather sparse and these will certainly be a welcome addition to my fleet, on top of that we get 20D containers which have never been released before. https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/img/20190509-4.pdf 1 Link to comment

Yes, but it spent its final years in service based at Miyazaki running trains along the Nippō honsen to Kagoshima, it was one of six locomotives that had been transferred down there from the Tōhoku honsen depots in October 1971, C61-20 was retired on the 18th of November 1973 along with C61-19, C61-18 was the last locomotive to retire on the 18th of January 1974. 3 1 Link to comment

cteno4
Color doesn’t scale well, the eye will perceive a color differently on a smaller bit like this. Also the finish is probably 10x thicker than prototype so it changes the effect of the gold tone some as well. Looks like the rails are a bit thicker than the prototype and the trim gold but a bit larger. Also gold paint on the models vs what looks like metal trim piece on the prototype. jeff Link to comment
Yavianice
So, the set 97913, "Celebration New Year Commemoration! Decided to release two sets of painting locomotives!" that has the EF64 and ED75 in fancy colors, pictured with imperial flags, will NOT contain imperial flags to affix to the front of the locomotives. 1 Link to comment
