Tomix - New Releases

New announcements are up, and there is quite some interesting new stuff.

Notably a new track piece that will enable more realistic station approaches, the re-release of the 281 'Hello Kitty Butterfly' and the new release of the 3-car additional set, as well as a new painted JR West train (sold with a Tomytec Hiroshima tram).

Tomytec had their monthly stream, and announced a few new items for both their TOMIX and DioColle lines:

They also showed off some prototype CAD screenshots for the E8 Shinkansen, and announced a bus model from JR Tokai Bus that has the Doctor Yellow livery. I might pick that up.

Here's the stream link:

I'm not sure if it was this stream but recently the had a production model of the JR Research Cabin on a Koki it looked really nice. I've asked RG-ROKKO for a preorder on it. It looks like Hogarakadou will be making seperate containers of the Research Cabin as well with different road numbers.

Apparently TOMIX is selling a "special edition" version of the Osaka 323 Series with Expo 2025 wrapping similar to KATO's offering. "Special edition" in the sense that there's no listed product numbers and is apparently only being sold from the JR West shop at the Expo itself. Whoever's dropping by the Expo may be inclined to pick it up 😉 49,500 JPY is quite an eye-watering price though.

Yikes yes quite a price! Not really spectacular as painted trains go, just a tad brighter. Maybe if i went to the fair i would get it as a memento. It’s would blow half a persons duty free here [hmmm that makes me think i have not heard if the de minimis exemption will stay for travel or not. That would be a nightmare to do duty on everything at customs at the airport!]

Nice!  😲  But not at that price...even if I did go to the Expo!

All the osaka expo 2025 ones except the kato 323 are expensive it seems. The best one if they can do the interior right is the jr west 323 one.

Another TOMYTEC stream. They officially showed off the Osaka 323 Expo 2025 set for ¥39,600 starting on Tuesday, April 15 (around 24:40), amongst other things like the JR Tokai "Dr. Yellow" Bus (around 45:14). I'm not sure why there or what is the difference between the pricing from my last post about the former. I do like however that there are swappable destination boards that actually light up. I'm not sure if KATO's version will do that, or ifthose boards are included with what you buy.

According to one of the slides you can buy it from the following (courtesy of Google Translate):

- JR West Japan Trading Mail Order Site "Train Box" https://www.trainbox.jp/

- JR West Official Online Shop "DISCOVER WEST Mall" https://dwmall.westjr.co.jp/shop/default.aspx

- Trainbox WESTER Mall store https://wester-mall.westjr.co.jp/

Follow-up to my last post, looks like the TOMIX Osaka 323 Expo 2025 wrap does indeed come with the destination boards as well as a maintenance manual "clear file" similar to what JR West uses. https://ngauge.jp/poster/tb20250415/

I can't seem to access the Train Box or WESTER MALL links as I get 403/blocked. Maybe it's geo-ip locked to JP IP addresses?

Other links point to the other releases noted on the video:

It's probably licensed for Japan only sales.

I figured as much, though literally blocking access to the site if you don't have a JP IP address is a move I haven't seen much, if at all, in any limited release with Japanese products. 😆

I think Section31 was saying to have his friend in Japan buy it and either send it to him or bring it with him when he visits.

Correct. Of course an favor costs an favor but that is what good friends do for eachother.
