There is a prototype for everything... (Japan Rail)

We split off the rare trains into a new topic to keep this topic to the really odd and weird bits.

That DE10 looks quite smart in Hokutosei livery. Apparently Tobu acquired 1109 from JR East in 2020 when it was painted into this livery from the standard red.

As for models, think its only Rokuhan who produced a Z scale version of the loco in this livery although for N you can buy decals from small companies like R-Kobo.

After quick maintenance it is always a good idea to run your model's motor car in without any load (or so I heard atleast...)

Yavaris Forge

That's some nice sounding GTOs at work there.

Of course someone on Youtube tried to simulate it:

@railsquid - Would you happen to know what the story is with this?  I am really curious since it doesn't look like the best route to be moving a railway car.

Too tired to check, but I think from the comments it was something like the car was going to be scrapped and the depot it was going from doesn't have good road access.

Ah yes, the Seibu museum collection.

Waiting for the museum to be built? There seem to be quite a few larger railway companies saying they intend to build company museums.

"Summer Beer Train"

A test ride on the summer tradition "Summer Beer Train" will be operated by reservation from June 16 in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture

The "Summer Beer Train" is a summer tradition that runs through Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. Before it starts running on the 16th, a test ride was held by related parties on the 14th. Toyohashi Railway has been popular by turning the streetcars that run through the city into "Odensha" in winter and "Beer Train" in summer. Before the "Summer Beer Train" starts running on the 16th, a test ride was held on the 14th. The "Summer Beer Train" runs by reservation from the 16th to September 17th.

Maybe this has already been posted, but I have no clue what these are, except they are fake trolley's.  Taken at Minami-Miyazaki in March.

This is Umisachi Yamasachi, a JR Kyushu limited express running at the Nippō Main Line and the Nichinan Line. They are two cars of Kiha 125-400 class, originally bought by Takachiho Railway as their class TR-400, later transferred to JR Kyushu after Takachiho Line got cancelled after extensive typhoon damage. They are part of a "retro trains" NDC car line made by Niigata Iron Works.

The curve radius on this layout is unrealistically small making the train look silly. Also look at that gap between modules in the middle of the curve.

That's a really really well done T-Trak corner module with nice sound added too!
