EU manufacturers N Gauge new Releases & Product Announcements

I've been missing a thread on this Japanese railroad forum for new releases and products announcements for European trains, so I decided to make one. Since European manufacturers do not make that many models each year compared to any Japanese manufacturer, I decided it would be OK to place everything in 1 thread. I also placed it in "Worldwide Models" instead of the New Products thread; it seemed more at home here. But if the admins have a different opinion, let me know.

Here are the catalogues for 2018 (N gauge and HO gauge are usually placed in the same catalogue, otherwise I only link the N gauge catalogue)

I am very excited this upcoming year about the LS Models / Hobbytrain Nightjet collection. It will be awfully expensive though! Too bad that one of the cars is just a DB CNL car with a OBB logo on it. Wish they would do without that.

Also very excited about some CD love from Fleischmann. But again, too bad they put a DB IC car in with the set. Do they have too many of those left?

And the SBB Crocodile re-release, been waiting for that for ages. Both Jägerndorfer and Arnold will produce it. I wonder how they will compare (besides the HUGE price of the Jägerndorfer version).

Strategy. People interested in only CD coaches, which are likely Czech and not so much German, will have to buy the whole set to get all the different coaches. The Czech market is much smaller so if you want to serve this small market you'd want to make it as profitable as possible.

Hobbytrain/Lemke/LS Models

Wow, it looks like the Kato/lemke ICE-4 is all wheel pickup - "Stromaufnahme über alle Achsen". That's pretty unusual for a Kato train. Are many outlets in Germany taking pre-orders yet? Any sign of a price yet?

That may just be the power car they are talking about.

Ok. That makes sense. Seems like an odd thing to boast about these days. I'd be hard pressed to think of any loco I own that doesn't have "all axle" loco pickup.

Nope, it's the whole train. It was already mentioned in Lemke's first announcement of the train in late 2016.

All axle pickkup is usually a sideeffect of a single decoder train. If you are routing two wires (rails) for head/tail lights from the motor, then you can route four and have all axle pickup. It's been done by maerklin in the past for some articulated trains. Usually trains of this type have a 4 trace coupler circuit board providing mechanical and electrical connection (top/bottom and left/right side). I wonder what will Kato do?

ps: of course it could be the usual all axle pickup system for internal lighting in each car like most japanese emus, without electrical connections between the cars...

According to my supplier, KATO/Lemke has cancelled the KATO 137119 SBB RE 460 in "Welcome to Japan" livery which was scheduled to be produced in 2018.

Shame. :sad10:

Im mostly interested in the Jägerndorfer Obb 4010 series. (With sound).

That will probably be my last order in a long time....

Although a Hobbytrain BLS Ae 6/8 is also still tempting....

So the DB coaches belong in there.

Fleischmann changed the upcoming 881807 product to only contain CD coaches, not DB coaches anymore. This has been confirmed by my supplier and on the official website

Funnily enough, set 3/4 are already sold out from Fleischmann :-D

Sneaky Piko has recently re-released SNCF Corail cars in new Carmillion colors in N gauge, exclusive for the french market. It was not announced in the ordinary PIKO 2018 catalogue.

Product number PIKO 94338, set of 2, with accompanying locomotive BB 26000 PIKO 94144 also in Carmillion colors.

99€ for two coaches W O W

If you're interested in French coaches you need a really thick wallet, as even old coaches are rather expensive. I gave up on French coaches for my French locos. I'll just let them pull German Eurocity trains.

Quote from a french retailer "Trains160.com"
It has taken a long time to convince PIKO to propose new SNCF models on their existing moulds but now, two new SNCF items are available : one BB 26000 locomotive in the modern Carmillon livery and one set of two B11TU coaches in the same livery. If the price of the BB 26000 has significantly increased because of the production limited to this single version, it has been possible to maintain the price of the set of the B11TU coaches at the same level as this of the last PIKO couchettes coaches.

If these models are successful, it will be possible to plan to do other BB 26000 in more classical liveries, as well as other sets of Corail coaches, either to complete this first set in the Carmillon livery or to propose new liveries that have never been produced by PIKO. (fixed for english errors)

As these Corail cars are just the old Corail cars with a bit of new paint on them, 99 euro is really insane. But I know people who have big wallets for french cars (Trains160 is already out of cars), just like there is a market for eastern european cars, so who knows, PIKO will hopefully focus more on the french market eventually.

Another cancellation: Fleischmann 737212 & 737292 SBB Ae6/6 Städtelok (red color) is cancelled. Instead, Fleischmann will produce the Ae610 in red/blue SBB Cargo livery.

I guess my question should be rather, when will European suppliers start taking pre-orders for these new Arnold goodies? They don't seem to be yet.
