railsquid
I have created a double-track junction off a curved section: knotmore-street-shelf-2021-09-18_08 by Rail Squid, on Flickr which has resulted in some 101 series action: 12 Link to comment
Drunkenclam
I started to add some colour to these cheapo chinese swimming figures. School navy. Need to add black hair as well. Seeing as 90% of students have that. Much better than the original condition. 6 Link to comment
Drunkenclam
Hair now in place. Some short, some long. Depends on how much the paint ran, or my fingers twitches. Next to see if putting them in scenic water is a good idea 🙂 4 Link to comment
Drunkenclam
More pool updates. Includes the popular guy chatting up some of the female students. Might have to try to blend in the figure bases Next is the running track. Although I don't have confidence in my white line painting. Wondr if I can find someone local which can print in white. 6 Link to comment
Yavianice
Why not print the running track with the white lines in it? Link to comment
Drunkenclam
Yes I did think about printing on white card. I just though that would be a huge waste of toner/ink. The cost to buy white toner just for one sheet didn't seem very cost effective. Link to comment
cteno4
Well it’s not bad amount as it’s only a couple of sheets, like printing a few photos. Sadly seen fewer white electronic printing sources here. There was a local chap with a small service that had a dye sublimation printer that I wanted to check out but I saw the little shop closed up a couple of months back. I hope he just moved, but expect covid hit hard. Could cut the center out of colored paper instead of printing that bit and just print the track lanes. water looks nice, swimmers look like they embedded well. How did you get your water surface texture? Blower? jeff Link to comment
Drunkenclam
Woodland scenic water ripple effect. Apply. Leave for 10 minutes, then dab with a paint brush. After it cured I gave it the lightest of dusting of white paint. 3 Link to comment
cteno4
Cool, thanks i’ve never used their water product. cheers jeff Link to comment
Drunkenclam
I found it better to return every so often and dab it again. Or else it just goes flat. Edited October 20, 2021 by Drunkenclam Link to comment
cteno4
I guess it forms kind of a skin that you can manipulate as the base hardens. jeff Link to comment
Drunkenclam
wow. a 400metre running track is 177M long by 93M (general rounding) at scale, thats 118cm x 62cm . I guess. That will not fit on the layout 😄 Time for a plan B Link to comment
cteno4
How about a 200m track? Like 65mx45m or 43cmx30cm still not small!! https://www.rigbytaylor.com/wp-content/uploads/LineMarkings_Athletics200m.pdf looks to be about what Tomytec did and just shrunk it down to 21cm wide at about 1.5x A4 paper. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10300880 jeff 1 Link to comment
Lina_Blue
Sorry for posting in the last... year or so. Had a lot of things happening and didn't do much model railroading. But this year will go out with a bang. Have a sneak preview: 14 Link to comment
Drunkenclam
More work on the school. Ditched the running track and tennis courts. Added lawn and trees and figures. Makes you wonder about the stories between all the people. 11 Link to comment
Yavianice
Very cool! You could also put a shark in the pool, which would be prototypical: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lq_aHhoqlgQ 4 Link to comment
cteno4
Makes the kids not play in the pool. Get in, swim your laps fast and get out before toes taken off… jeff 2 Link to comment

I love the UK signalling system. Of all those I looked at, I think its the clearest, simplest and most logical. What are you using to control the signals? 1 Link to comment

I found a video I put somewhere in the forum that shows (a bit) how the signals works. This before I made the junction indicators and shunt signal. As for many other people, I am quite busy at work and doing other small electronic projects in my spare time so this project keeps moving forward but very slowly. https://youtu.be/kycLvT6JTaA Also from a previous post, the info below: ******************************************************************** S1 S2 Counter Track Status Comment 0 0 0 empty no train in track section 1 0 1 occupied first half of train entered to track section 2 0 2 occupied whole train is in the track section 2 -1 1 occupied first half of train is leaving the track section 2 -2 0 empty whole train left the track section And the serial monitor shows the status of the counter after the train passed the track section 1 2 1 as described before ******************************************************************** 2 2 Link to comment
JR 500系
Not exactly ON the layout proper, but still, it's modifying the layout of my cupboard ~ 🙂 Current situation, too many Green Max VHS cases that take up quite a bit of space Even when they are double layered. Solution, Mini Casco case to the rescue! One mini casco case for 7-cars can fit and remove 4 VHS cases! 2 Link to comment
disturbman
The lego marathon has started! Casco mini-cases and new Popondetta urethane recombination madness for the win! 1 Link to comment
JR 500系
What's better than Mini Casco cases? How about Mini Casco cases with self made labels! 🙂 Having so much fun and it looks great! Gotta do something about the thin paper on those Kato cases... probably need to re-paint those 4 Link to comment
railsquid
Used a labelling machine ("Casio Nameland Biz") to tame the mess of handwritten stickers on my Kato cases: kato-standard-compact-case-labelling by Rail Squid, on Flickr (I have since developed a "Casco First" policy, but have a lot of legacy Kato ones still). 2 Link to comment
Wolf
Boring day at work, so I totally misused our 3D Printer and made small little advertisment signs for our clubs layout to go behind the fences and walls on the small refinery area they are building (and wich totally not gets slowly 'japanised' by me *cough* ) 5 Link to comment
