Hey guys, I'm slowly starting to build up track and other supplies for a small N-scale layout mostly using Kato-brand Unitrack. Currently, Kato has a very limited amount of their unitrack available with concrete ties, and I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried to repaint the black wood tie track pieces to make them look like their concrete-tie counterparts? If so, could you tell me the color(s) used or recommendations for potential colors? ~Phillip

Does anyone know of a source for Greenmax Railway Color paints, in North America? The usual services in Japan (Buyee etc.) won't ship paint to the U.S.

While i was looking at various trains and trying to find matching liveries around Japan, mostly from the JNR days, i've stumbled upon the orange on white paint of JR Central trains. Not all of them use it however. (the second most common is its predecessor the shonan stripes on white) I found the following: -KiHa 25 (commuter dmu sets) -KiHa 75 (commuter dmu sets) -KiHa 85 (limited express dmu sets /Wide View Hida/) -311 series (commuter emu sets) -313 series (commuter emu sets) -373 series (express emu sets) -383 series (limited express emu sets /Wide View Shinano/) The question is does any other train use this livery? Also, does JR Central plan to standardize on this paint in the future?

I have for my future layout several KATO bridge spans, some truss type for the main spans and some non-truss for the approaches. I have each type in both "red" and "green", except the shades of red for the truss and non-truss aren't even close to similar, and the same goes for the green spans. So I would like to paint the bridges so each bridge, end to end, is one color. I've already determined that the bridge spans are molded in color, so I won't be painting over existing paint. What I need to know, if anyone can help, are: What type of plastic does KATO use for their bridges? Based on the answer to 1 above, what would be good types of paint to use? I do have an airbrush, so either an airbrush-compatible paint or an aerosol type would be acceptable. The bridges won't be handled once they're installed in the layout, so resistance to flaking from handling isn't really an issue here. I just want my two full bridge spans to look less patchworked, if you know what I mean. Thanks.

Hello All, I am wondering if someone knows how to get hold off some Japanese Model Rail Model Paint as that can be shipped to overseas. Is it true that all model paints and liquid stuff are restricted by Japan Mail Services. Or anyone has color mixing formula for most JR prototype color? Anyone can shed some light? Thanks TMF

I have stumbled across Greenmax Railroad Colors on the web while browsing. The colors appear to be the same as the spray packs but are not in a spray can (which means hand painting or using an airbrush). Like many of us on this Forum I don't live in Japan and if these paints are acrylic then maybe they might be able to be posted. Has anyone tried to have these paints posted to them? I have include a pic of Color C-02 which is the color used for older passenger cars.
