  1. JR East announced Tuesday, in conjunction with Railway 150 year anniversary celebrations, that one E2 trainset will get the original Tohoku/Joetsu Shinkansen livery. Operation will begin in July with a special rinji ressha. The trainset will also be operated on regularly scheduled services on the Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen lines. The trainset will also revive the "furusato chime" jingles which were instituted with the opening of the Tohoku Shinkansen as far as Ueno Station. https://tetsudo-ch.com/12402639.html
  2. Was a rare oportunity to visit those vehicles only 2 days 10/10 and 10/11, inside have a pictures to how was build and some new papers saying about the new tech for future shinkansen trains, i was alowed for only 1 minute in the drive seat :( The 300X JRCentral later 700 Series, STAR21 JREast E2, E3 and WIN350 JRWest 500 Series are all experimental vehicles that were used to test high-speed technology for future shinkansen. Not only are these trains on display, but visitors can actually go inside them. edit: i upload all the pics from my quick visit there so enjoy :D
  3. A 45min TV program of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, to be operational in 2014. Some interesting info about construction financing and subsidies, as well as 3rd sector operations, for those who understand Japanese. Make sure to check out an aerial ride above the whole length of the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Nagano to Kanazawa at 5:30. Also some CG renderings of the Toyama Station, at 38:55, and the remodeled Nagano Station, at 44:21. The platforms at Nagano Station have already been lengthened to accomodate the future 12 car trains, up from the current 8 car Asama consists. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj926gndpl0
