JR 500系
Few more pre-orders coming in from RG First Parcel - a double decker bus set and the Tomix 40s Soya line colour Who doesnt like a bus set with box shaped like a bus~ The Soya Line colour is really unique! 2nd parcel contains the Kiha-181 Hamakaze, the E351 add-on set and a TM24 motorised chassis Always love a shrink wrap! This completes my E351! And Yeah one end is missing the lights but this will fix it I really wanted to order the Kiha-189 Hamakazem but oh well, missed that boat and fell in love with the certain older feel of the nostalgel of the Kiha-181 8 Link to comment

defor
I, like many others, have been looking forwards to the day when Kato finally released the N scale Patlabor line… Sadly, while early prototypes looked great, product photos shown in the last few weeks looked… blurry and way too glossy, and appear to be the result of the multicolor 3D printing method used. Either way, as I wanted to support this endeavor, and because I’d like to make some Patlabor themed T-track modules I bought two from Kato eshop. I have to say- they are tiny, but sadly the issues with 3D printed colors vs the original painted prototypes still exist. I’m considering taking one and painting very thinly to see if some of the details can be restored. Either way, it’s still great to finally have official models in N scale: If anyone's looking for some detail images- here’s some closeups of some higher detail areas: Edited April 6, 2022 by defor 8 Link to comment
Arctic
Delivery of bus collection 24, truck collection 13, kato bus/taxi stops and many many figures I got the secret bus: It's an interesting livery, to me it looks sort of retro sci-fi? I could imagine a laser tag place using that font and colour scheme. Anyway that it's an Akan Bus will fit in well with my Senmo line rolling stock I have. 5 Link to comment
ED75-775
On 4/1/2022 at 2:11 AM, Martijn Meerts said: One thing to keep in mind with the pre-built World Kougei kits, is that there are usually hand built and hand painted, which explains their price tag. As far as I can remember, none of the kits I have in N-scale come with lights, or even an easy possibility to add lights. Even their H0 models don't always have lights. Most of the World Kougei kits / models are a bit niche, and manufactured in limited quantities. Reruns are also not common. By now though, both Kato and Tomix have produced some models that were only available from World Kougei when I started getting familiar with them. Thanks Martijn. This is the first time I've had something like this in N-gauge, so your explanation does help a little to explain why the railmotor and seemingly most Kougei ready-to-run models are so expensive. I guess where I am coming from, I am too used to being spoiled with all the details, bells and whistles (and lights!) on the Märklin H0-gauge models I buy. Irrespective, the JiHaNi railmotor is a nice model. I will probably try not to buy too many more expensive models though for the time being, unless I plan on skipping a trip to Japan when the borders reopen. Still hopeful that'll happen next year! Back on the orders front, the WaSaFu 8000 and rerun WaKi/SuNi/SuYu vans are on their way to me, they landed in Auckland from Hong Kong yesterday. So I should have them on Monday, which is nice since I'm going through a couple of issues at work and that gives me something to look forward to. I think that's the last of my N-gauge preorders for a little while, unless you count some spare Kato cases in May and possibly any Märklin items that arrive my way. Speaking of cases, I'm thinking of getting some book type cases for my fleet of (mostly) JNR steam-era rolling stock. I could do with some recommendations? Also noticed on the Kato website, they have uploaded a few photos of the upcoming ED75 0 for June. So far it looks like the recesses for the number plates are the same length as on the ED75 1000, so I'm pretty happy with that. I won't know for certain until June (or later). KateM
Got a packet from Zenmarket today, new stuff is here 🙂 My SO wanted some kitchen utensils so I snugged some train stuff into the packet as well. Went through DHL (as EMS is currently disabled for the Czech Republic), this time without problems regarding IOSS (prepaid VAT). Tomii Electric Railway Kiha 203 is going to cosplay as Iwate Development Railway Kiha 202. Got some spare parts - extra TN couplers, 3D-printed skirts for NDC car (Santetsu 36-500), and some Tora 45000/55000 covers for more variety. Also got the book everyone's talking about, what a coincidence 🙂 Also couldn't resist getting a Tomix manual turntable from the March sale at TEC STATION. I find it pretty interesting, with a diameter of only 140 mm it looks quite adorable. The turntable has five tracks already installed and five more are enclosed so the turnout can accommodate anything between 1 and 10 inputs. The height is the same as FineTrack. The moving part is cca 100 mm long and has its own power input. As you can see, the length is ok for a DE10. I'm little afraid that 8620 will not fit as its outer wheels are the same cca 100 mm apart. Most of my stuff now goes through RG Rokko. Because of the disabled EMS, Tokonami-san is keeping a pile for me until EMS is restored. So far I'm waiting for Tomix Kiha 100 in Kamaishi Line anniversary wrapping and Kato 8620 steam loco from JNS Forum exclusive sale - thanks for the heads up! Tokonami-san is also looking for replacement couplers for Kiha 100 (JC6343), but even though Kiha 100 sets were released recently, the couplers are not yet available. Hopefully they will drop soon - the assy parts situation at Tomix is much worse than at Kato 😞 8 Link to comment

Try YJA, there is always someone selling spare parts. There was a KiHa100 released recently, you might find what you are looking for. 1 hour ago, katem said: 3D-printed skirts for NDC car (Santetsu 36-500) Neat, where did you find them? Link to comment

I look at YJA often but did not manage to score any of them for half a year at least and even then they were quite expensive. I really, really hoped that Tomix would release some of the Kiha 100 ones now but they did not. 38 minutes ago, disturbman said: Neat, where did you find them? disturbman
@katemI just checked my own KiHa 100, I think you can use the coupler from a Tomix KiHa 120 but swap out the knuckle for a Shibata from a normal TN coupler. That part is standard, you only need the coupler body as it's more unique. The KiHa 100 and KiHa 120 use the same body design. I think you could get a cheap KiHa 120 more easily than a KiHa 100 if need be; if the couplers are not available as parts. Edited April 8, 2022 by disturbman Link to comment

JC6364 couplers (Kiha 120) are used in 36-700 series as well so I know about them, but it's a good point that I should also look for any Kiha 120 (re)release to see if they pop out together. I have a lot of both knuckle and shibata heads lying around, only coupler bodies are the problem. If there was a supply, I'd go for JC6360 couplers instead (black version of JC6364), but these are even rarer these days - last time I scored a pair at YJA was in May 2021. I was hoping for some JC6343 (Kiha 100) only because they were the most probable to be available these days because of the release of new Kiha 100 sets. Link to comment
disturbman
Yes, I think your best chance right now is either the KiHa 120 or the KiHa 100. I particularly thought of the 120 because Tomix produced a lot of these and I think some models are not very sought after, I saw some sets sell for very low prices. Alternatively, all the short private DMUs produced by Tomix must be using these two same couplers. Can I ask why you are looking for these couplers? Link to comment

I've got most couplers during last year and a half, only missing last five coupler bodies. Would be nice to have some spares as well but that's not crucial. Cat
Package just landed from 1999. The main reason for the purchase was the re-released Micro Ace Rural Station diorama — this is a near perfect stand-in for the Ajigaura Station on the Minato Line and will save me a lot of kitbashing time that would have been spent trying to make something comparable. As long as we were doomed to pay shipping, threw in a bunch of street detail bits and a Girls und Panzer reference book. Fortunately, the book was backordered and took awhile to come in. Just before it arrived, the new Baido paper block wall kits came in, and they allowed me to combine those with the waiting package! The walls look lovely, and very simple construction; just fold in half and glue the capstones on top. Edited April 20, 2022 by Cat 9 Link to comment

cteno4
My Tomytec construction site vehicle/building set showed up. Very nice, concrete pumpers have completely articulated arms so can be positioned however you want. Only bummer is it appears I got the mystery set of the excavator hauler, just orange trailer, but they omitted the construction office from the box! Not a biggie as I have a few of those, not awful, just disappointing. Jeff 1 Link to comment

I think it's a cruel ploy to omit the container office to save cost and labelled it as 'secret variant' .... Really love the concrete pump trucks and that low bed with the precast elements though ~ Link to comment

JR East
I was waiting it for a while (ordered on Jan 15th ....). I've ordered it using the lowest cost (830 Yens) for delivery, meaning it's slow but 3,5 months it's quite long. Anyway, I got it and I'm happy. Now it'll take probably hours and hours to apply those stickers and reach the expected level of details https://www.densha.me/product-page/kato-e259系-成田エクスプレス專用室內ステッカー Edited April 23, 2022 by JR East 3 Link to comment
