No problem! thanks for the reply- Personally I feel it runs exceptionally well but wasn't sure if I should be worried about anything... It has a wierd "fluid" movement feel, but possibly its just using a coreless motor like some of my Green Max trains- I haven't really checked.

Depending when you bought it it may already have the newer motor in it.

the newer model is 14-503-1,I think the -1 indicates the newer motor👍😀

Another new arrival today - just the thing to brighten up an unwanted sick day at home! It’s the Kato 10-815 Koki 50000 container car two-pack. These originally retailed at around $40.00 NZD roughly; I got mine second hand but in like new condition for $70.00. Seems to be common with a majority of Japanese N scale stuff sold here... irrespective, I like ‘em and they’re a good score all the same. No photo as it’s apparently ‘too large’, I will have to try cut it down when I have time.

Received these recently - World Kogei plastic kits.  Has anyone built any of these?

They come with pre-assembled motor/gears/wheels that is ready to run.  The body, details, etc. are the kit part.

I’ve been thinking of a small parking lot scene with a little meetup going on with a good crowd around. In the heyday of dekotora they use to do pretty big spontaneous shows in parking lots and fields. I have a nice little coffee table book of just truck pictures. I remember reading an interview that was with a bling shop owner that sold all the addon parts talking about the drivers who were doing it. One was great he was like a 3 pack a day smoker and finally decided to quit and to keep himself from smoking spent all the cig money on parts and would be by every day or two just buying a light and then kept himself occupied by adding things bit by bit everyday and not smoking! There was also a funny movie way back where one of the main characters is a dekotora driver, it’s been like 15 years since I saw it and the plot is sort of all merged with several other quirky little japanese movies in my head now.

Two packages made it to Berlin with a total value of 20.000¥ without any interference of the German Customs and the German Post. This was a good day.

I am very impressed with the JR West painted trains. The livery is truly beautiful.

Took a short drive to Shimonoseki and scored a junk Romance Car from Hobby Off.
The set cost ¥4000 as a non-runner junk lot. This particular set was produced in 1993 according to the documentation.

After a strip down and a good clean up etc.., the thing runs smoothly, as good as new. The interior lights are filament bulbs so a bit dim but nice that the whole thing is lit.BF246756-6742-459E-8A4E-51FAFBAECFBE.thumb.jpeg.e5fbed278b8faddbfd88446dafabd23d.jpeg
Also picked up the latest RM and one of the recent supplement publications.0CC1BA22-C7B6-434F-8EFE-56F9A2C6AA50.thumb.jpeg.040f40ec63c3eb6686fff5a878cde4fa.jpeg

Two new lorries have been added to the Dreyfus fleet. Mainly obtained for the tipper truck (to be used for deliveries to the cement works on Kenekimura), they represent older trucks of a suitable period for the layout. Ironically, I suspect the cement mixer will be of less use to me on the layout as the cement loading facilities are aimed at rail wagons.

The tipper load will need to be painted and detailed to represent limestone.

A few months of orders from HS, yet another DD51. Strangely I paid less for the motor car for the Tohoku KiHa 40 that for the trailer as it was on sale at HS at the time. Also a new plane for my air base, Shin's X-29 from Area 88 (my favorite manga). Not exactly something you would see at a Japanese airbase but considering I have a VF-1 on the tarmac I think I can get a pass on this one. Also with the 'survival game' figures the rifles fit much better if you cut off the hand grips and glue them that way. Also really impressed with the printing on the Evangelion buses and as always the painting on the Hokkaido KiHa set is fantastic.

First of my new arrivals in today: the Kato 8001 Toki 15000 gondola, and Tomix 2714 Wamu 80000 boxcar. The latter turned out to have TN couplers installed, very interesting! Somewhere along the line a mistake was made, not a massive one and it won’t be hard to fix. I think a Tomix Thomas coupling might fit, and if I’ve read Rakuten right, they’re cheap enough anyway.

If that’s the worst I have to deal with, then it’s not too bad considering I brought these before lockdown started!

And yes, that’s my pair of Koki 50000 wagons in behind. They look smart behind that ED75, maybe not the right one for them but still smart!

Some Groove Garage 19D 50L stackable containers arrived last Monday (as well as other stackable containers for a group buy)... they simply were shipped to the wrong address so I didn't get them until today.

Hah, these are the second batch I own (Also have a few  blue 18D) 🙂
Wish shipping was cheaper sadly, but they're great for under-bench storage.

Yeah it’s like the train cases it can be 50-100% shipping! I used the excuse it was cheaper per item to ship two than one so I got 2.

I got the red Popondetta one from ModelTrainPlus recently, it cost me 5.5k and 6k for shipping 😄

Initially I wanted the green one but that was sold out everywhere apart from amazon where prices exploded within the time I saved up the money to buy one 😕
