Finally got my Catenaries and my next (10-135 Set) Iida-Line EMU.

Well, my DD51 is happily parked in Zenmarket's warehouse awaiting shipping to New Zealand, but I had another bright idea while I wait for postage prices to drop or Zenmarket to tell me my items need to move on. I want a train of Oha 31 coaches for my C11 tank loco, and Kato did a nice model of the Oha 31-26 as preserved at Omiya a while back. So, since I have seen the real thing, and walked through it, why not buy the model of it 'just for the memories'...?

 

It cost me 980 yen and although the box is slightly damaged, I'm not too fussed about that - the coach itself is in excellent condition and that's the bit that really matters. It was the second-cheapest one there; the cheapest one was exactly the same - good coach, slightly damaged box - but didn't have a Buy Out option and was only marginally cheaper. I'm hoping that it still wasn't too expensive though.

 

And for comparison, here's the real Oha 31-26 as preserved at Omiya. Apologies for the slightly poor image quality: normally my iPod Touch did quite well taking photos after my camera failed terminally, but it must not have liked the light above the stairs in the foreground!

First N gauge purchase for a while, but one I’ve been after for a long time. The re-released JR Akebono Blue train which was last produced by Kato about 10 years ago. 
I remember Gaugemaster having the add-on set when I was in Blighty but the base set you couldn’t find anywhere. Thankfully Kato saw fit to do another run. 
 

It might not be as exciting as some of the other recent releases but it’s a nice gap filled in my collection.
 

Also got my first EF64 locomotive. Despite having many locos, I’ve not yet had an EF64 although I might succumb to a couple of those JRF milk cartons.

This example is yet another Nagaoka Depot unit release. This time number 1030. As before it has the dual coupler but the newer version (without underside clip) so won’t fit with some of my older EMUs, but I have a few with the newer coupler.

I just spontaneously bid on a E231-500 Yamanote Line x Sumikko Gurashi set which was on sale on eBay. It‘s not really my range of modeling since I‘m more into actual locomotive-towed stuff but for 150€ it was an okay buy I guess. And if I really happen to not like it I might as well re-sell it here or somewhere else 😄

Yeah, not sure what else I can say other than I'm expanding my assortments of freight containers.

Can never have enough, especially as I my freight platforms can't be EMPTY!

Also bought two packs of the Kato 23-578 UR19A Sakura Band Containers because Coronavirus killed spring, and I gotta some fix somehow.

 

Buildings:

Tomix 4223 Substation (catenaries need power right?)

 

Electrical:

(1) Tomix 5701 TNOS Control System ( I plan to automate the commuter rail parts of my layout with TNOS, but run the freight line and main and hidden yard off DCC)

(1) Tomix 5720 TNOS Expansion (need at least one of these to implement Layout #2 DX... or write my own control program from scratch...)

(16) Tomix 5567 TCS Wide Track sensors (16 is the maximum supported by the base and expansion I have)

(16) Tomix 5814 Turnout Extension Cables (I will be converting the system to work with Kato (at least initially), and while the color is wrong, the cables were much cheaper in with Black Turnout ends than White Power Feeder ends. - I can always paint them)

(2) Tomix 0112 Directional LED Track Indicators (I'm really curious if these will work with Kato track as they will make diagnosing TNOS issues MUCH easier!)

(28) Popondetta Blue-White Energy Charger LED kits (I LOVE these things to no end! Compatible with CL, a nice clean color for modern cars, and easy to fit in both Tomix and Green Max cars!)

 

Mistakes:

(16) Tomix 5558 TCS Sensors (HLJ's webpage is realllllllly hard to use on Firefox, and I accidentally ordered all of these (over $180.00 USD after shipping!) when I thought I was ordering the Wide Track sensors!)

 

WHEW! Now for my preorders and back orders to arrive!

And all those containers then stacked up end up such a small pile! Always thought I had enough and when we had the larger container platform on the last JRM layout I was amazed how quickly the stacks sucked them up!

It's so very true- that said, I STILL have more cars than containers to put on them.

I've been thinking that the better option for Platforms is to make "fake" stacks- 3d print the stacks as one large piece, paint, and decal.

Ha we got that for you! We made a long stack print out like that for the old big JRM container area as it took too long to stack them all! I’ll dig out the file, you can cut and paste as needed. It’s the regular 19d jrf red/brown containers. I also have some other paper craft of other containers I can dig out for you. I thought of just sawing up some appropriate sized wood blocks to just wrap with the papercraft for easier stacking.

 

sure you could experiment with 3D printing a stack and then just making a decal for the whole side of each container rather than trying to do them all the bits individually. A little of the micro sol does well to melt the decal over the minor door surface details. Worked pretty well on the big graphic for the JNS world tour contianers. The only rub is the inkjet decal membrane is quite a bit thicker than the usual screen printed decals and it’s a tad more stiff with the clear acrylic coat you have to give them to seal the inkjet ink.

Few bits arrived today and yesterday,roadway,ballast and the Kato pocket line railbus/tram.The yellow version of the 103 is on its way.

not wanting to buy from abroad at the moment means my choice of rolling stock is a bit limited,I m guessing the ones I ve got are only available as no one else wants them 😂😂😂😂 to be fair they run just fine just not very detailed.

Another order dropped off from Ami.... This one is a combination of the newly released Aoshima models and the previously returned to Ami order that contained some really good deals...

 

 

 

Nothing too fanciful, but the 313s and the Odakyu 4000s were going for like really good deal so .... You know what they say, one cannot have too many 313s.... And that Odakyu 4000s is just right to complete my 4000 series!

 

 

First time i bought an Aoshima model kit set... Guess i have my work cut out for me...

Good to see they’re 1:80 HO scale models though. Might need to look and see if they do any other vehicles in this scale.

 

I decided to increase my EF64 fleet by 200%. I couldn’t resist these milk cartons and might try and grab some Hoki 9500s at some point. I also quite interested in the Poppondetta Hoki 1000s in Onoda Cement livery. Can’t quite understand the ¥23500 price point for 8 wagons though. Anyone here got some that can shed some light?

Got my monthly shipment from HS today.  Less than 3 days From Japan to MA, USA via DHL.  Ironically probably the fastest I have ever received it.

Recently, we've gotten DHL here in 2 days sometimes!

We had a few things on June pre-order with HS, some of them were late coming in.  They're all their now and waiting to go to the docks, went for the cheap option since we're not in a rush for any of them.  That Temple Gate is on the way here too, that will work very nicely as the gate (and only remaining portion) of Mito Castle.

I've not been contributing to the consumption of Japanese Model Trains as of late but will try to make up for some lost times.  Just received a couple of sets and I don't know why I waited so long to get the "Shimakaze" and the push to get it this time is because of the "Hinotori" and wanting a complete fleet of Kintetsu's Limited Express trains.  The TGV is a no brainer and this particular 789 Series just looks awesome.  Got a few more coming and it's too darn easy to press the order button on Pre-Orders because it cost nothing - at least not yet. 🙂

Nice! I have one of those TGVs on the way. I just caved and switched all my postage to DHL. So pretty soon I'll have about six months of pre-orders arriving all at the same time. 🙂

viaduct track,piers,power cord and overhead station arrived this morning.

time to see if I got my calculations correct😂😂

The intention is to attempt to kitbash the station and have the platform elevated and I m hoping to incorporate it as an attraction ride rather than a railway line.😂👍
