Fenway Park

Kato wood chip wagon set plus a few others arrived yesterday from Nariichi San.

Packed superbly as ever.

Will compare the Kato version with the Kawai/Popondetta ones later.

I love the funky windows on the second car! How retro!

I ordered the Kato 20-652 Level Crossing and one 20-653 expansion (I still need one more expansion but I didn't really have the cash available).  I have always wanted them but was on the fence until I noticed that 4 of the 6 shops I normally deal with are sold out of both, and one shop only had one left.  It was decision time as I didn't want to miss out, who knows how long it will be before Kato runs these again.  I did notice though since the US version was released the expansion pieces seem to be disappearing from the more reasonably priced ebay stores.   I do plan on modifying mine to make it less toy like, I mainly wanted it for the detection system, sounds and mechanics.  I think I am going to covert mine to cantilevers along with some other changes.  I will see what I can do when it arrives in a few weeks. :)

Nice!

it makes me sore to see this set... It's poor service on the part of Ami... I pre-ordered this set, but was overseas in Europe when they requested for payment. I asked them kindly for extension for payment timing as I had no way to re-validate my credit card pin as I don't have overseas usage of my phone, by which they didn't agree...

I then asked them (politely as always) to allow me to change to paypal payment, by which they did, but I just didn't had enough time when I was in Europe and the cut of timing was different due to a different time zone as Japan... by the time I woke I received the email saying the order was cancelled.... And as per most MA sets, once the pre-order is released, there usually isn't any more stocks left as most stocks would have been taken up by pre-orders... Which then disallow me to find this set again...

Sorry for the rant, but thought I would share what I have encountered with Ami that wouldn't have happened if it was ordered with other online suppliers like MTP or Loco1 who would be very pleased to hold payment and item for the customers until I come back from my holidays to make the payment ....

Sorry to hear about the incident with Ami - I'm having a little situation with them now as well.  Unfortunately we can't expect personal service from a big retailer like Ami like that of MTP or Loco1.  I hope you're able to source it from somewhere else.

Did you eventually get this set though at the original price (or slightly above it)? It's still available on Amazon.co.jp for international shipping, and there is also one still on Rakuten.

The weirdest thing just happened. I went to Loco1hobby to get the JNR Class 922-0 because lucky me found that he still had 3 models in stock , (since I absolutely missed pre-ordering it) and when I went to Paypal to buy it, I was told than an error occurred, and got transferred back to Loco1hobby. On the site the Train was suddenly 2000 yen more than before, so I assumed it was a mistake on the website, I contacted David, and went ahead to pay the new price, and when I wanted to pay with Paypal again I got the same an error occurred message, was sent back to Loco1hobby and was told  the Train wasn't available anymore. Now I'm bummed that I didn't get it. :sad1:

Very weird.

It's still available on the Loco1hobby site of Amazon.co.jp, and allows for international shipping, for 21000 yen + shipping. https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B01M9DZ1QK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A322MM9BC99PND

David just wrote me back.

Hi Sascha,

Sorry this happened but this is because all were bought already.

I have a store on several other sites such as Amazon.

Amazon syncs every 3 hours. So they were all purchased through amazon a few hours ago.

I think the synchronization must have happened while you were browsing.

In regards to getting more stock Unfortunately they are sold out at MicroAce.

I already asked them but they have no plan for a re-run as of right now.

Kind Regards,
David

A small order consisting of mostly bargain bin items from the most recent HobbySearch sale. As per my new years resolution a package of HO containers until I have enough to fill my HO Koki and some naughty vending machines to hide somewhere on the layout.

Sorry to hear about that Sascha... I think because Loco1 seems to be the only retailer left that still has stock for that JNR 922-0 Doctor Yellow hence it was suddenly grabbed up quickly...

I wish to give my sincere thanks to Suica san and Sascha san too for pointing me in the direction of Loco1 for that JNR 922-0, by which I was very lucky to be able to secure one set.... Initially I was contemplating quite a fair bit about this set, but after I saw Suica's picture of the real model and thinking real hard that I don't even have a 0 series and it wouldn't look THAT strange to have a 0 series Doctor Yellow to be running with the latest N700s, I plunged in and decided to order it before I will regret not having a 0 series ever...

Great looking train! I wonder why TOMIX/KATO makes the diesel version, but not the electric version of this model. I like the wooden box, too.

It reminds me of the dutch Koploper series. Which is for me a reason to buy it. But, I should not splurge... even though there is one currently on Buyee... :(

Good find Suica, Series 789 in Green is on the top of my want list, I was hoping MicroAce was going to re-run this but still waiting.  I don't even care if I find the 5 car version I just want this train to add to my Hokkaido fleet. ;)

Good find Suica san! That looks great, but I seriously do not hope to step into any more new islands... the wallet have been suffering since I set foot into Kyushu...

And a little more stuff came in, mainly vehicles and some accessories :

As some might know, buses is NEVER enough for me ~~

And some Aoshima made semi trucks and trailers. Detailing is nice on these models, and they have opening parts and minute details like mirrors and grills which are nice ~ Semi trucks are also seemed to be modelled after an European brand truck (i'm guessing Volvo) and featured an opening cab with engine block seen!

The red one is an Volvo FH while the grey one is modeled after an Mercedes Actros.

My Tobu series 100 arrived today (my first private railway unit and first limited express unit xD) Such a nice train both in terms of shape and colour! Also it took less than a week to get from Japan to the UK and no nasty handling\customs charges from Royal mail. Excellent service from Loco1hobby!

Its a Birthday present so I had to test it today you understand lol, but its going away unit my Birthday in July!
