Received my Kato C11 from my personal express couriers today (the in-laws)

It's a relatively low cost delivery service but does entail an hour drive to Heathrow and usually half an hour or so parked on the M25.

I love the fact that Kato can make such a beautiful model with all-wheel pickup and no visible motor in the cab. I wish British n gauge producers would get their act together with reliable locos and no horrible wires sticking out from the cab or between loco and tender.

A small package from Plaza Japan arrived today, however it was missing the main item I placed the order for, the Kato broadcasting building. Funny thing is, the building wouldn't have fit in the box they shipped my items in so I assume they just forgot to send it. I have sent them an email about the situation. Other then that just some pieces of track so I can start working on my layout soon, some staff for my Tomytec restaurant, and of course another package of HO containers.

My missing building from Plaza Japan showed up today, it was shipped in a separate box to avoid having to be sent by EMS.  Since my last broadcast building transformed into my Sega building I needed a replacement for it. ;)

I finally caved and bought kato's 115-300 in Yokosuka colors, what a beautiful train!  The new versions of the 115 are amazing, cant wait to get the Shonan version when it comes out later this month.  Got the whole 8 car set, now just to find the baggage cars too.  Installed and painted the air hoses and electrical connections this afternoon, quite the infuriating task.

Now you know why I was selling my older Kato 115's and now I feel bad for selling those to you.  Kato is getting back in the 115 game with their new offerings as Tomix was monopolizing there for a minute - now we have 2 choices again of similar quality.  And since you got some practice now installing those hoses, when you're back in town - I will ask you to install mine. :)

This came yesterday, haven't put number plates on yet. Runs smooth, even on 183mm curves.

Edit: oops, I forgot we shouldn't use photos we didn't take, so I replaced the shot that had the real one and the model with the individual one.

While I'm editing, I put the ED16 on my Unitram track. It handled those curves too!

Beautiful! If there's one electric loco that I wish was available as an affordable RTR model in 1/80th scale, it would be an ED16. Of all the older JGR/JNR boxcabs, I think they are the most attractive.

Tenshodo have produced the EF10 and Tramway the ED60/61/62 family, so I live in hope! :)

Cheers,

Mark.

The ED16 is a beautiful loco, now you just need to get a long train of hoki's to pull behind it!

Heh, there's room in my heart for all 115's!  My wallet may not agree though...   I'd be happy to help install them, just let me know!

Really nice train.

Just to let you know that I have received an email from Hobby Search stating that Tomix have recalled the 98622 313-8000 Central Liner train due to a product issue. Mine has been delayed because of this.

Has the vendor of your model contacted you about this?

I've not received an email from my vendor - can some enlightenment me please as to what the issue is.  I remember Kato also had an issue with one of their 313's and so it came with an extra body shell to remedy the problem.

Thanks,
Junior

me neither, although I would expect Ami to be later since they are not exactly a model train retailer.... Now I wonder if Ami would even send the replacement shell for this if it is really wrong...

The previous fault on the Kato was 313-1700 iida line, where the 'door open' button was placed on the wrong side of the doors (mirrored) ... Luckily I got it from Model TrainPlus which Nariichi san was very prompt in sending the replacement body shell..

All that I was told by Nariichi was that the hoods between each car were incorrect. He's sending me the replacement part once it's available.

Thanks Nate!  I knew something was off when I was watching youtube videos of the prototypes and when I was intently looking at my Tomix 313's but couldn't put my finger on it.  Actually I think it's the rapido couplers leaving a huge gap in between the cars. Haha!  Wow, that's pretty awesome of a company to realize something like that and correct it.  I would've never noticed but I'm sure many did.

No problem! And I agree regarding the rapids couplers...sigh...

After spending an outrageous amount of 150 euros on shipping costs, travelling costs to the customs office (which is 2 hours away from me AND I have to get a free day off for that), and calling costs to DHL Express I have finally received my shipment from Nariichi Takayama after a record breaking 5 weeks. It arrived later than 2 SAL packages that were shipped after the EMS/DHL Express package. One of the SAL packages arrived even within 5 working days! Amazing customer service, DHL! You really do get what you paid for when choosing DHL Express shipment...

But I can almost forget about the abysmal package shipping service and the astronomical costs once I looked at the beautiful trains! Thanks Mr. Takayama for the awesome service!

The Isaburou Shimpei joins my Kyushu collection. The 885 was already mentioned in the last post, and I received the Ibusuki no Tamatebako from the forum member JGSDF a few months ago (not mentioned on the forum before). Thanks JGSDF!

The TOMIX E6 Tohoku Treasureland and the MicroAce EAST-I join my Tohoku/Hokkaido Shinkansen collection.

I found some cool Minitrix BeNeLux carriages and the hard to get Minitrix Koploper that make a nice addition to my dutch collection.

The Tomix Nagamare train is incredibly beautiful! Next to the dutch Vincent Van Gogh Traxx that was mentioned before in the forum, as well as some Nissan containers I found.

And the 655 Imperial train with affixed handlebars and flags, thanks to Mr. Takayama!

I do however believe that the customs is trying to tell me something, however. Also, didn't DHL come at the door to ask for the customs fee, or send you a bill afterwards? They used to for me, but not anymore! When asked, the customs people gave me the following advice: Buy European trains instead. Pff... what??

Never using EMS/DHL Express again...

Nice collection there buddy,I want that van gough train

Its still for sale in stores, but stocks are starting to run low. It's Minitrix 16859. I like the model a lot, it is very beautiful. The only thing I do not like is the decoder in it that enables digital and analogue running, and features a CL light function (that, even on analogue, the lights turn on first and then the train starts running). In combination of a KATO powerpack, this means poor performance on slow speeds. I can live with it, though.
