Claude_Dreyfus
Berlin... that reminds me... Not Japanese, but all except one sourced in Japan. The last set arrived the other week... Vollzug! (well sort of). Quite lovely. Going to make a concerted effort to get an H0 version this year (Lima or Rivarossi, the only two who make the correct email set within my budget!). Link to comment
ToniBabelony
We should have a running session at Shin-Yokohama Kikanku with that set, as there is probably no space on your layout for the full stretch ;) Link to comment
railsquid
At the moment, indeed - the best they could do is shuffle back and forth, but one day there will be loops. But yes, we must do the Shin-Yokohama Kikanku thing soon. Link to comment
katoftw
Tomix 106 w/ tail lights and Tomytec Keihan 700 Thomas livery arrived today. Both hit the track 15 minutes after the box hit the front door. 3 Link to comment
railsquid
Special time-slip through-services have commenced to Narita Airport. Not sure how old this model is - the case has the old 3-digit postcode, so 1997 or earlier I guess, but apart from some minor, easily fixable issues in excellent condition and dirt cheap. 5 Link to comment
JR 500系
Classic! The front coupler is missing though ~ :) Link to comment
railsquid
Hence the cheapness. Should be fixable, and if not, I'm not too bothered ;) 1 Link to comment
Suica
Wonderful 253 series, squid! I still need my Snow Monkey Express with that colour scheme. Something new just hit my doorstep as well. (Okay, it's not new, it's used :P) GreenMax Keihan Comfort Saloon 3000 series 3 Link to comment
HantuBlauLOL
Damn squid, my EH500 also breeds as well. 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Model trains plus box showed up with tomytec Thomas train and the wakasa wt3000 fruits and trees painted train as well as mechs. Both are nicely done. I have to stop buying these tomytec painted trains, but they just keep turning them out, what am I to do?! Also ordered some clear VHS cases to try to start making 2 car cases for the small tomytec tec sets. Now to find the proper foam! Jeff 2 Link to comment
Pauljag900
It's got to be done jeff,I mean poor old Nariichi would have them gathering dust if you did nt! Edited March 15, 2016 by Pauljag900 Link to comment
cteno4
Yes and dust in the hobby shops would cause dust allergies and thus helping to make health better! Jeff Link to comment
Pauljag900
And we all know how badly dust affects our trains do nt we? Paul Link to comment
serotta1972
What's that saying "Build it and they will come" but in my case "Build it so they will stay". I think I have all my trains covered: V14 for the Shinkansens, V16 for the 85' American and German Passenger Cars and regular ground tracks for the Expresses and Commuters. I'm also now in the possession of 3 Kato Power Packs and 1 lone Tomix, I had to try it out and see for myself if the Tomix trains ran any quieter with it. 4 Link to comment
VJM
Not Japanese, I know. Graham Farish 4F locomotive as part of the "Land Ship" set. Nice box, but huge.... the same size as 4 of the regular Kato or Tomix book cases for 1 loco, 3 wagons and 3 loads. A bit disappointed it couldn't get up the slope on my high-speed lines. The "covered tank loads" are die-cast and quite heavy, and the loco lacks traction tyres (some people would be happy with that though). Anyway, looks good. Special thanks to Pauljag900 for dealing with Hattons for me. 2 Link to comment

Welshbloke
I've been tempted by that set too (as one of my other interests is military history). But I keep comparing British N prices to Japanese N, and then looking at the running qualities, and it just doesn't add up for me. Link to comment

railsquid
100% more smoke, though. Every cloud and all that... ;) Yeah, just sent off a Dapol 52 for warranty repair due to the smoke escaping from the electrickery bits. Link to comment
serotta1972
JR500 made me an offer I couldn't refuse because I think he felt bad for me that I was missing an integral piece in my JR West Shinkansen collection. Wow, I am blown away by the striking looks of this train if you call it that. For whatever reason this particular train never appealed to me and I think it's because pictures and videos doesn't do it justice as that is all I can go by. I can only imagine what the real thing looks like. Sammy, thanks for encouraging me to get this train. Where do I sign up for the JR 500 fan club? :) 7 Link to comment
Suica
Good buy, serotta! Mirin' that 500. :D I was tempted as well, but in the end I decided to wait for the 500 Type EVA. It will get a model, right!? Link to comment
Pauljag900
Hi serotta, This was the very first Japanese train I bought and it s still my favourite,I work in the aircraft industry and if you look at a picture of the real thing head on,then imagine a plane with no wings on it,they look the same, they definitely used the same technology when designing it,the aerodynamics are unbelievable,it s awesome looking! Just wish I could get an add on set for mine!! Edited March 17, 2016 by Pauljag900 Link to comment
beakaboy
Serotta. Its beautiful! I had never paid much attention to all the 500 series possibly because of the paint schemes or whatever, but wow! The front view!! Link to comment

I am so glad you loved the train and the model set! The 500 series is truly what defines speed and the most sleek and beautiful train in the world! (In my opinion) Now your Tokaido/ Sanyo series is more or less complete! :) Good buy, serotta! Mirin' that 500. :D I was tempted as well, but in the end I decided to wait for the 500 Type EVA. It will get a model, right!? I hope so too Suica san... I'm also waiting for that one... Hence the reason to let go of the Kansengar one. Then i'll keep the 40th Anniversary one and the Eva one hopefully... Just wish I could get an add on set for mine!! Indeed.. the 500 series idea from a king fisher picking up fishes from the river... The way its beak hits the water and streamlines in is what drives the concept of the 500 series to enter the tunnel and avoid the 'bomming' sound ~~ Serotta. Its beautiful! I had never paid much attention to all the 500 series possibly because of the paint schemes or whatever, but wow! The front view!! It is~~ I'm glad there are more fans to the 500 series now! :) And here's my trade-off, a Kintetsu 16400 ACE 2+2 set, compliments from Serotta san! Perfect packing, like a pro! Beautiful VHS casing to house them in... Nice, sweet little 2 car set. Clean and tidy and neat Looking good on this one! Off to the tracks! Nice head lights! And tail lights on all 4 cars! Seriously, this train looks FAR better in model than on pictures... The Orange grows on you and the lines are beautiful... Now we can couple it to the upcoming 30000 Vista EX! :) 1 Link to comment
