Railtunes
Last month, I got the TouchRail Taiwanese 3100 series Diesel railcar 6-unit set. What a beauty! Incredible detail and finish and very smooth running. These were built by Nippon Sharyo and placed in service 1998 for mainline express use. I also got a 2100 series older "Blue Baby" railcar pair from Ethertrain, also Taiwanese. These were originally introduced to Taiwan by the Japanese, so they look like older some Japanese railcars. Yesterday, I got the Meng Models (China) Taiping steamship kit. This is 1:150 scale and will be perfect for my small port scene, which, when I run Asian trains on my modules, is considered to be Keelung, Taiwan, a port which this very ship served before it sank in a collision in 1949, with a loss of over 1500 refugees from mainland China. It's an amazing kit with very fine detailing as it comes, including LED lights powered by a USB cable. There's also an upgrade laser cut wood deck kit available from Artwox (Korea) that I will be adding to it. This ship is the subject of a Chinese movie, The Crossing, the first half of which was released in the Fall of 2014 and the rest of which - the part about the sinking of the ship - is due for release this month. I found a copy of Loren Aandahl's second book, "The Taiwan Railway: 1971-2002". This continues from his first book that described the TRA in 1966-1970, with more great color and black and white photos never published anywhere else. And it's in English! Another friend also picked up some Hong Kong trams and buildings for me, so that makes plenty of projects for this year! - Paul, AsiaNRail Edited May 21, 2015 by Railtunes Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Yikes that like 7.5 scale miles! That's going to take some time to get thru! At 1m radius that's like 25 loops?! Nobody has ever accused martjin of being timid about his trains! Jeff Actually, it's "only" 5 loops, but each loop (more like an oval) has enough length to comfortably store a 16 car shinkansen. Also, the top half of the loop has 4 tracks, going into 2 tracks around the middle. Reason for that is that the helix will connect to the main station on top (which will have 2 shinkansen and 2 regular tracks going in/out of the helix), and connect to the hidden yard at the bottom. Of course, there's some turnouts in there as well which add a secondary entry/exit point, which makes it a lot more interesting to see trains running since you never really know what'll happen. The helix itself will also get some block detection so that trains can leave the station and go towards the storage yard even if the yard is filled up. The helix will be able to store some trains as well. I did make a post about it a while ago at http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/3241-jr-chiisai-storage-yard-modules/page-8?do=findComment&comment=93733 , and although the design has changed considerably since then, the general idea is still the same. katoftw
Whenever anyone says helix, it reminds me of the video the N-Scale Tehachapi Pass guy posted of his first helix test run. Runaway freight cars! Argh! Link to comment

Davo Dentetsu
Oh wait, I tell a lie! I did actually solve a long term issue with parts supply. I helped my friend, a native of Yokohama happily enough, with some car stuff (making it leak through the window seals slightly less than it used to. Good old Magnas...) and, with some parental help from home, managed to source a few bits I've been struggling to find without learning to read from scratch. A big win, I reckon. She won herself an EF65 for her efforts. :POh, here's the FB page of my friend, second hand toys supply from Japan. More of a bits and pieces collection, but everyone has their chosen poison, right? :)https://www.facebook.com/pages/Senpai-Hobby-Trading/382197441949379?ref=ts&fref=ts Edited May 25, 2015 by Azumanga Davo Link to comment

Densha
The pantographs are not necessary to make the train run, they are only optional visual improvement. Link to comment

katoftw
I'm watching a few items on buyee/yahoo. Since shipping is killer, although haven't used the SAL option yet.
