Kingmeow
Just curious what you are planning to do with the powered chassis? Link to comment

Swapped it with the E353 chassis, so the three car unit is also powered (and i don't feel like having only one powered car in a 12 car train either) Link to comment
Kingmeow
That's interesting! My 16-car N700S (Kato) has only one motor car. It works fine. But now you got me thinking maybe convert one other 16 to a motor car to have more power. I run it on train show layouts. They are not exactly the epitome of perfection. 🙂 1 Link to comment

Twin motors were only a staple of many Tomix shinkansen up to recently. Kato have started releasing motor chassis for a number of their trains that have formation splits like the E353 Azusa 9+3, 681/683 6+3 Thunderbird. I missed the boat on the 651 Super Hitachi (7+4) one to fit to the add-on set but managed to add one to a Kato 300 series shinkansen. Kato's mentality is to release a second motor unit through their Hobby Center without traction tyres so that should there be a difference in speed, the 2 are not fighting each other too much. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the difference in acceleration. Must be a great addition for inclines. 1 Link to comment
Kingmeow
Thanks interesting and clever on not having traction tires on the second motor car so they don't fight if they are slightly off. I have a Red Wing 3 car starter set. The 2-car add on also has a motor car so I was wondering what's the deal with TWO motor cars on a 5-unit trains? 🙄 Link to comment
disturbman
Maybe they didn't want to invest money in developing another non-motorized chassis? 😁 I'm being a tease. It's because the 227 do also run in 2-car or 2+2-car formations. Having the 2-car add-on motorized gives people the possibility to run these alone or with another set. Link to comment
tripel7
Some extra cars to bring my JR485 up to 12 cars, and some double track, as i usually order 20-000's 1 Link to comment
Pashina12
Just a small shipment for me - Tomix chlorine tank car, and a Baiodo signal shack kit. I wonder what the Baiodo kit will be like compared to Sankei or Iori? - haven't had time to open the kit up and inspect it yet. 1 Link to comment
Beaver
Baiodo tends to use thinner, more flexible material. Ordinary card rather than the special Sankei laserboard. This means it is easier for things to go out of shape! And the whole thing is more delicate. On the other hand, the standard of detail is higher than Sankei. For example, rooves have relief, with separately applied battens etc instead of a flat printed sheet. And signs actually have a support structure with brackets rather than just sticking a sign to the wall. The above is based on the HO kits. N versions may be simpler. 1 Link to comment
