bc6
Just a few things from RG-ROKKO arrived today. I think this is my first set of Koki from TOMIX that I've ever purchased. Since I have a D51-498 I may as well get some coal cars to go with them right. This is a pretty cool kit, Its a rail carrier kit from World Kogei J.R. Tokai Series KIYA97 Blank Rail Truck. I document it fully with links to another site on my blog. Finally, I missed a delivery from USPS from Hobby Search. Edited September 10 by bc6 3 Link to comment
SL58654号
I love antique bookstores in Japan, as I've said time and time again. Literary treasures can be found cheaply and more often than you think! 😄 Today at a book festival in my town I found this and immediately snatched it up for only 3,000 yen! Can you tell what my favorite pages are? 🌸 6 Link to comment
RS18U
My Plaza Japan order arrived: Kato 23-500 Toyota Autos (Crowns) x 2 Tomix 4255 Convenience Store (Daily Yamazaki) Tomytec (Building 161) Shinto Shrine Set B Tomytec (Building 162) Shinto Shrine Accessory set Kato 23-600A Hino Town Bus Poncho Yellow and Blue Sky Tomix 4236 Convenience Store (Seicomart) Total was 22,616 JPY including EMS shipping, and I had to pay an additional $26 CDN for PST, GST and Canada Post handling ($10). No duty or brokerage charges. I got the usual Plaza Japan eraser, and this time a fan (not in the picture). Ordered September 9th and arrived September 16th to the door. Half that time was in Canada to go less than 200 kms 😁 I did get an email noting I would not be able to re-order the Kato Crown's or the Daily Yamazaki as they were now out of stock, and not expected to be re-run (at least any time soon). However they were good prices, and getting N scale Japanese vehicles can get expensive. The Shinto shrine kits will be a focus of one of my T Track modules while every Japanese layout has to have multiples of konbini's (Japanese convenience stores), sort of like the Starbucks at every corner here in North America. And the 4255 was half the price of the 4236 so seemed a good deal. Will 5 Link to comment
N-Osoi
I also got another Plaza order. But! I have actually now made one of the Sankei kits, one of the public toilets. Was a good one to do first, gave it a gentle paint to try and match the colour on the packet, this exercise ended up giving it and unintentional but nice weathered look. Both times I've ordered from Plaza, they take a week to pack and dispatch them, hmmm. Anyway can't complain, its still quick overall. Edited September 21 by N-Osoi 6 Link to comment
kami_illy
Got a little treasure yesterday! Found the 'elusive' 185 Odoriko Shorty that was in good condition and with an ok enough price tag. And of course i had to add a little extra to fill the package and avoid wasting space. 😜 4 Link to comment
Tony Galiani
Something a little different this time. Currently in Fredericton, NB, Canada and I went to the local hobby shop to pick up some magazines - he sells old issues for $1 Canadian each so figured to get some hobby reading while my wife visits friends and family. The shop doesn't carry train items but does have useful modeling supplies so picked up a few items there that I never get to see in my neck of the woods. The brass rod will - hopefully! - provide an exhaust stack for the Tomytec shunter I am working on. And I had not been aware of the GodHand flexible sanding strips so bought a pack to try out. The pics show the front and back of the same package in case anyone is interested in these. Ciao, Tony 6 Link to comment

SL58654号
Two new sound cards arrived in the mail today. I'll have fun running my Festiniog Railway engines and EF65 when the layout is done. I'm still trying to obtain every last piece of track that I need to tackle that project, and the landscaping is coming along but as @ED75-775 told me I should keep my word on showing you progress. Nikkyosha are restocking their track pieces for me so that I can complete the layout and keep a good Kumamoto Mom and Pop hobby store well fed. Also, look what little guys found their way into my "Mini SL Museum"! Japan is filled with adorable stuff! I got them for only 50 yen each (35 cents). 7 Link to comment
SL58654号
Later I plan to add Palmerston among my 009 models to my collection. Maybe later I'll add some slate wagons for my little passengers seen above to ride in and draw more attention from fans of trains and anime alike. Later the Giesl ejector D51 is on the arrivals list for my layout. 2 Link to comment
Kamome
Received a nice surprise a few days ago for my birthday. False!! The anniversary of your birthday. You are only born once(sorry quoting the American Office) Seems some people do notice the ogling at models and take mental notes. Anyway I very kindly received this Kato set from my family. Private railway companies have some of the best weird and wonderful train designs not to mention liveries. Really like this era of the Kintetsu and as Kato decided to redo the train, I’m happy to add it to the collection. Slightly dubious about the box as I think the constant opening and closing will inevitably wear out the cardboard tabs. Shame as it’s a nice presentation and as each of the three car units are connected, not sure how else Kato could’ve down it. The inner tray is also cardboard with a clear plastic cover over the train. Thinking to now get the 3 car C set to give me an A+B and C+C consist. I do quite like the asymmetrical windows of the connecting cab ends. Not sure how often I’ll run it in the Farewell 9 car consist but it has the headmarks for this included in this set.
