Tomix Track Cleaning Car Demise?

in the top rotating banner they say Tomix has announced they wont be making the track cleaning cars anymore. Anyone else heard this? It seems like such a good solid selling product that it seems surprising they are stopping it unless its saturated the market and now is expensive to produce and not so profitable to do another run (or new moulds needed at more cost). or perhaps a new version coming out?

 

just seems like every second or third modeler i know has at least one of these!

MU always writes discontinued when a product gets updated or production is put on hold because of excessive stocks at retailers. It's a pretty good way to clear old stock, since many people would buy just to stockpile in case it's actually true.

 

On the other hand Tomix would surely amnounce any changes on their site...

Yeah, I'd guess at most that particular version is being discontinued.

They have discontinued other colours before.

Yeah they've had a large number of other colors - there are collectors out there who have web sites dedicated to them. I would be shocked if this was anything other than a color change or even a pause in production.

I've been trying to locate the old orange one with black stripe.  The model club close to me has one.
