Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express will be a bullet train in Japan

“We hope passengers will enjoy the Harry Potter experience even while aboard the shinkansen,” a JR West official said.

I understand that the point of all this is to promote the Universal Studios Japan theme park's Harry Potter offerings, but this quote still amused me.  Because nothing says "Harry Potter experience" like a 21st century bullet train!

Now, if Universal Studios or JR West painted a Japanese steam locomotive in Hogwarts Express livery, that might be more interesting.  Wouldn't be particularly useful or inexpensive to do, though.

Don't laugh--if the Ōigawa Railway can do a pretty authentic-looking Thomas the Tank Engine from a JNR Class C11 steam locomotive, why not work with the Bloomsbury (the British publisher of the Harry Potter books) to do a full Hogwarts Express train?
