miyakoji
Here's ayokoi's video of the first 227 series, in a 3-car formation, leaving the Kawasaki factory in Hyogo. Nice. It really does look like the latest variant of the Hokuriku-area 521s. Edited September 29, 2014 by disturbman removed link Link to comment
Sacto1985
Here's a video of the first completed 227 EMU (trainset A03) sitting at Hōden Station just west of the Kakogawa River on the San'yō Main Line: This is the beginning of the end of the 115 Series EMU operating on the San'yō Main Line. Expect within three years the 227 to operate all the way from Shimonoseki all the way east to Himeji. And the 115's operating on the San'in and Fukuchiyama Lines to be replaced by 221's. Densha
I don't wanna nag, but why not continue in the previous topic? Now we're continuing the discussion elsewhere and that just confuses me. Edited September 28, 2014 by Densha Link to comment
miyakoji
Densha, I hadn't thought of it. Moderators, can you merge? Link to comment
kvp
Is there a text somewhere about the design decisions that led to these blinkers? If they are an aftertought, then it's a poor one, but if they were designed into the train front from the start, then i would really like to know what were they thinking? The obvious choice for me would have been a train front that is less aerodynamic and extendes to the end of the blinkers. The air resistance would be the same, but the look would be much nicer. The other alternative is a mechanism, which would allow the blinkers to be closed flush with the surface of the cab when the cab is at the end of the train. Link to comment
miyakoji
I agree. This is a good looking design, with a lineage going back to the 221, or even the 117. But these anti-fall devices are so conspicuous. 1 Link to comment

Densha
I have to admit, it's one sleek looking train! You only need photoshop for those things on the front, they remind me of the eye patch thingies they use on horses to limit their eyesight. :P 1 Link to comment
miyakoji
Yeah, they do look like blinders. Too bad. The first video above is in Onomichi, it looks like such a nice town. Link to comment
