Going Japanese!!!

Glad they were able to find a good home and layout to run around on.  That DE10 looks pretty good with those passenger cars and that Kamome Express really stand out.  And the ballasting is very nice Paul, there's nothing like well ballasted tracks.

WOW!

That is REALLY nice mate! Very nice! So interesting to see the layout started from scratch to now a bustling city! Kudos for the hard work!

Can I just suggest to add in some large size Japanese posters on the buildings? These will help to create an even better feel of a bustling Japanese city ~

The night scene is awesome Paul!  Can't wait to see the trains running again.  Looks like you got more room to move around.

Spent the last week working on the shelf extension at the front of the station board,post-2329-0-85486800-1490470683_thumb.jpgpost-2329-0-83087500-1490470868_thumb.jpg

Some of the rd plates and tram track are a bit damaged and I ve tried to hide it best I can but in time I ll probably replace them, the price of having numerous attempts at getting it right

Wow, looks great Paul!  What is your method of wiring the building lights, just one bus or are some on different voltages/circuits?

Hi mate,I just use LEDS for the buildings, strips and single bulbs and I just use normal power supplies to match up to the correct voltage for that circuit,as a rule it's 3v for the street lights and 12v for the buildings.

I was thinking of having one 230-15vac transformer to run my Kato controllers. Then just running them through a fused link from the main transformer to each controller. Thats what I do with my pachinkos. Although I am using 2x 500va to do them and it weighs alot.

With the city module virtually complete I made a start on the mountain module tight space meant keeping the track plan as simple as possible. All track and supports are fixed in place and now need to basecoat the track bed.Track test done and all fine, now the fun begins.post-2329-0-25505200-1492277032_thumb.jpgpost-2329-0-89663300-1492277059_thumb.jpgpost-2329-0-53887900-1492277089_thumb.jpgpost-2329-0-44877700-1492277115_thumb.jpg

The top area will be home to a small station and the shrine kit,the rest I ll make up as I go along.

Short video link showing all 8 trains and tram running.

Wow, amazing job Paul!  The foam board is a great idea, looks like it lets you build pretty fast.  Cant wait to see it with scenery!

With all track laid and tested I started work on forming the mountain and hills with the shrine kit on the top.

No where near finished and It all looks a bit of a mess at the moment but will look fine once the plaster cloth goes on.

I can access all the tracks from the end which will be tidied up and a removeable panel fixed in place.

Not sure if anyone is intrested but I took a nighttime video of the layout,

It was only done with the iPad so quality not brilliant.

Apologies in advance for using cheap cars and buses, especially to jr500,

This is fantastic work mate! It looks REALLY good now with all those lights! I love that mountain with the shrine and temple! Lovely work!

just be sure to change those buses eh?   :P

Really happy to see the 651 doing its runs so nicely, but I would just drive the 651 and E259 a little slower so they look even better when running with the speedy 500 series ~

Magnificent work! It's really nice to see it at night in all its lights! Thanks for sharing mate!

Cheers everyone, for some reason the trains always seem to be going faster than they are when using the IPad camera, have you found that Jeff? Thanks for doing the YouTube link jeff

The other problem I ve got sammy is the inclines,Sod's law the two trains with what appears to be the weakest motors are on that line, and they both come off the inclines as they hit either end of the straight so always appear to be going quicker, any slower and they do nt get up the inclines very well, another example of lack of space I m afraid!the other thing that did nt help is that the motors were cold as I d only just started to run them,I should have waited for them to warm up a bit and slowed them down really. All noted gents and all comments appreciated,

Thank you

Paul

Paul,

You're welcome. Just use the YouTube page link not their YouTu.be link and it should auto embed for you.

No not noticed the iPad video being fast but have not done a lot of iPad video with the trains. The frame rate should be read and given to the YouTube video when it's transcoded. Try videoing one lap and time it and see if it plays back the same time period on the iPad and then on YouTube.

There are two options.

#1 R280-15 curves on the outside and a 70mm straight on the middle track.

#2 R541-15 curves on the outside and a 140mm straight on the middle track

post-75-0-22840800-1496744806_thumb.jpg

I would say the R280-15 should give you the tram depot  track spacing.  R541-15 is more for platform clearance.

Cheers bill,

R280 it is then as I want the tram tracks to look like one piece with three tracks built into it,like this,
