So the exhibition started today and this is our T-trak layout from the air. It is quite good to see our trains running soooo long. :-)

I (and maybe kvp and Coromant too) will write more about the event after it closes on Sunday. There will be more pictures of course.

I had 9 single modules and 3 corners in the layout. Coromant had 4 singles and kvp had countless. :-) No, I'm joking, he had all of the stations for example, so I think he had 18 plus the remaining corner with 3 sides.

We had an inner circle track with a 2 platforms station and point-to-point operation on the outer track from and to the terminal station with 3 platforms.

Congratulations guys on a successful exhibition.   I too really enjoy your layout.  A great mix of modules representing many scenes of Japan and they flow together quite nicely.  Well done !

Let's organize one! It is not that hard if you know a community house or something like that, ask some other modellers if they have time and also want to exhibit their layout, etc.

(Of course, it is hard to organize, but if you would like to have an exhibition and noone does it, maybe you should try. :-) I am pretty sure you can get a lot of advice from other members of JNS.)

But I think Sammy have said that he's the only modeller in Singapore. :)

Yes we have a REALLY small community actually, but they are REALLY small, and most of them are not exactly model builders, but just collect a few trains for fun. There's a store here in Singapore that is up and coming (I know the owner personally), but it has to benefit him somewhat to have an exhibition (I truly understand his situation) so it is quite hard to get to know the people who are even just slightly into Japanese model trains....

Likely, or rather, there are some other players that are very quietly building their own layout that I have yet to know off....

Same here, I have no connection to other Hungarian people who are modelling Japanese theme except kvp and Coromant. Of course the railway modelling community is bigger here.
Maybe you should talk with the shop owner to make a small exhibition together in a community house, or in a school as I think a lot of people would be interested in watching layouts and trains on a show as a program with the family for the weekend. As I experienced the majority of the people do not really care about how detailful is a layout, they just want to see the trains running (longer and colourful trains are better).

But I'm just talking from the sideline, I am pretty sure that you know the local possibilities a way better than me.

Jr, give it a shot if you can find somewhere to set up tracks and building. You may be surprised by the reaction you get! You don’t need a complete layout, do the usual set up on the fly perceived scenery Japanese style. Green or brown cloth on the table and you can get fancy with plopping down some little scenery sections if you want. You probably have all the components laying around there to do it. Might discover a trove of other modelers or plant a seed. See if there  is a local cultural event you might show up at. Many of ours want to charge for booths, but if you approach them as you are just doing this for public interest and educatuon, many will waive the fees. Some of our events have performers and they are not charged to participate and I usually liken what our club does to a performance and that logic sometimes helps.

Thanks guys! Great ideas, i'll see if it is possible to pull off.... Here in Singapore, rarely anyone does things that will not benefit someone some way or the other... The last train exhibition was done by JR East, but that was purely to sell their shinkansen technology for the Singapore-KL express...
