which kinda sucks for us Japanese bus fans outside Japan...  I want this Tobu bus sets so much, especially seeing 2 beautifully painted bus inside!

This too...

Strange why the Tokai tour bus looks so similar to the Odakyu livery...

Tokai Jidosha, Kanagawa Chuo, Enoden, Tachikawa Bus, etc. are all owned by Odakyu so (at least some of) their coaches all have the same livery.

All of the "K" and "E" series collections are to some extent exclusively sold at events in Japan, but I still buy them online - and i live in the US. After the rollout event, the bus companies' offices usually sell the models until the stock is exhausted. Why is the Tobu set any different than the Hankyu, Osaka, and Tokyu original sets I just purchased? I have numerous ones of the "K" series original set collections. And, BTW, I have already ordered the Tobu and Tokai sets.

After a VERY long wait, we finally have the exclusive double decker type tour buses! yeah!

Though I doubt it can be motorized... there are no 3 wheeler motorized chassis as yet...

It's a pity that they're only releasing JR West, Tokai and East double decker buses, even though JR Kyushu and Shikoku also have double deckers in use. The JR 30th Anniversary Bus Collection only features single-floor coaches.

It might be a sign of things to come.... At least, it's a nice start!

Now we can hope Tomytec will also do a chassis for those twin rear axle double decker buses!

As I was feeling like JR West busses maybe did end up on Shikoku on occasion, I asked Google-sensei whether they could tell me more. And yes they could, as I was told that JR Shikoku at some point in time did buy some used double deckers from JR West of the same type as Tomytec is doing now. They were used in their original JR West livery for a while, after being painted into JR Shikoku livery.

Not going to get the JR West collection though, as it's way too expensive only for a single bus. I'll probably settle with the JR Shikoku Mitsubishi Fuso Aero Ace.

Edit: It just struck me that JR still paints their new highway busses in JNR highway bus livery.

Call me slow, but I just chanced upon 2 very interesting website for my favorite Toei bus!

https://www.kotsu.metro.tokyo.jp/eng/services/bus.html

Official English site, which has a lot of information for travelling on Toei bus around Tokyo...

http://pluto.xii.jp/tobus/archives/2105

Very interesting data base of all Toei bus, which I find this page, especially interesting... a sudden thought came to me to change the destination boards of my Toei buses to the ones here!

dummy rearmost axle probably?

btw, most 6 axle buses only use 2 powered axle in the middle, the rearmost axle is just for idler or steering.

And so the Kyosho 1/80 RC buses are in!

Boy they are fun!

Takes 2 AAA size batteries in the bus, and a 9V battery in the controller. Good clean RC fun ~

The bus model itself looks decent enough, but rather large when compared with my Tomytec 1/87 Toei bus, perhaps because of the difference in scale...

I wish there were head and tail lights in the model too, but I think anyone with good electric fingers would be able to DIY.

The shells are a nice touch too, with the Hokkaido bus bearing the JHB logo and a resemblance to the 富士重工業7E, the Keikyu bearing resemblance to the いすゞキュービックバス and the Kokusai Kogyo (KKK) bus is probably an Isuzu Erga ~

I completely forgot that these existed! I'm jealous that you've got all of those!

Speaking of which, has anyone seen any of these up for sale recently?

I've found two on eBay, but they're $80 and have to be shipped across the ocean from Hong Kong... Sadly a bit too much for me, but I'm hopeful to find more...

I think Phil is looking for the RC 1/80 bus, which, sadly, is mostly sold out... These are fun, and the controls are top notch!

As for the other 1/87 models Phil, Bill has posted those available for orders... i have a couple of these 1/87 HO scale buses, and the one i like the most is the Nankai Shuttle bus ... the graphics on this one is really nice!

Ah, sorry guys, I didn't specify here, I was indeed hoping to find one of the 1/80 RC busses.  So I guess the question now is, do you think it's worth $80 with free shipping?

Nice roads.

womder how they did that small van? Looked like it was running on its own. Not seen anyone lately documenting making their own bus type mech that tiny, but it’s possible as the chap quite a number of years back made a fully rc controller vw bus at 1:160. Uber cool but could only store less than 2 min of runtime. Maybe the magnetic chain drive under the road or just pulling a magnet down a track for the video?

Love those roads! I'd love to know how he made them! I'm assuming they're just sheets of plastic, but I can't totally tell.

Amazing layout! I think there are quite a lot of custom buses running around, and also that Hino from bus collection 18 doesn't seem compatible with any of the ready to run tomytec bus chassis... perhaps a custom motor too?

Link to comment

Yes, custom buses include liveries on models that have not been offered. These include the Tokyu Fuso Aero Star (new model), the Tokyu Hino Raibow HR (the one you referred to), the Tobu FHI 7E, and the Tobu Isuzu Erga one step. More impressive is the Kokusai Kogyo Isuzu Cubic non-step. That is a model Tomytec did not make at all and the real one was actually only produced for a short time by Isuzu. That Cubic model is also shown here and was apparently produced by someone named Mr. Kaneyoshi who has made some other amazing custom models.

Oooh they are pretty! I can just feel sammy’s Finger inching toward the mouse and a yahoo auction for one (I have that bug eyed expression with sweat pouring off in a manga image in my head!)... let’s see if he can resist!
