AMTRAK HIGH-SPEED CARS TO BE BUILT BY ILLINOIS COMPANY: A joint venture by Nippon-Sharyo's U.S. unit in Rochelle, Illinois, and Sumitomo Corp. of America has been chosen to build 130 high-speed rail cars for Amtrak. The fleet is expected to be used for Amtrak routes in California, Illinois, Michigan and Missouri. An initial batch of rail cars is scheduled for delivery in 2015.
