American Freight CSX on the River Line

My NRHS Chapter had it's annual picnic at Iona Island.  American freight, up close:

What's the frequency of freight on this line? I'm heading to NY in 3 weeks and intended on doing a daytrip to Bear Mountain. The goal is to hike to the lookout and hopefully check the freight at the same time.

Seems Bus is the best option to get there... but maybe a Taxi to Manitou on the return?

Train frequency varies.  Sometimes you get 4 an hour, and then you get nothing for hours.  It seems to peak about the middle of the day.  We were there from about 10:00 to 5:30 or so and we had 9 trains on a Sunday.  As for travel arrangements to the park, I will ask this weekend at the tower.

Awww... my home RR. I caught 5 yesterday at Point of Rocks, plus Amtrak, only three hours late.
