Sacto1985 Posted June 18, 2012 Share Posted June 18, 2012 My brother--who has traveled around Japan on its rail system--told me a simple rule of thumb: best thing for long-distance train travel in Japan is to use the same travel luggage that can fit into overhead compartments of airliners--in short, carry-on luggage. In fact, that's exactly what I did when I traveled from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station and back on the Hikari Shinkansen in the summer of 1985. Link to comment
