Lenz Gold Mini Q

Hi all,

I'm considering buying a Lenz Gold Mini decoder for one of my locos, however before I plunk my monies for one I have a question... as it comes out of the package, does it have the "keep-alive" function, or does this need to be added to it (though a capacitor, for instance)?

Cheers NB

'keep alive' as in, it can run over dirty track etc? In that case, no, you'll need the additional "Power1" bit, which is a capacitor with some additional electronics. The problem is, the Power1 is fairly big and doesn't fit in most trains, especially not locomotives.

You can also go for a silver mini btw, which is cheaper, smaller, but also has the solder pads to hook up a Power1.

or you could build a mini nuclear reactor internally and use it to go back to the future :D

i was under the impression it really only fit in HO and up.

It'd probably fit in a double decker shinkansen and stuff like the sunrise express etc. I have one of them somewhere which I wanted to put in a Kiha01/02/03, but that didn't fit. I can see if I can find it and test-fit it in some trains.
