Hankyu headlamp codes

I am in Kansai now, and made a discovery this evening.  Apparently Hankyu uses headlamps to designate train types.  From what I saw, all trains as a matter of course activate their upper headlights, and the lower lamps are on/off according to this pattern:

 

Locals: both off

Semi-express/express: left lamp on

ltd. express: both on

 

Anyway, interesting to see this practice, reminds me of British Rail's use of lamp codes on steam trains.

That's cool indeed to know. I seemed to notice some kind of similar pattern on Kintetsu trains as well. Kintetsu however does seem to have differences in having either the left or right (or both) lower headlamps on. Does anyone know more on this?

Maybe we all need to rewire our Hankyu cab cars and update the decoders ...

Only Nankai ,

Local service : ON(Left side only)

other service: ON (both side)
