Japanese kit-basher

Here's a guy with a web site showing how he kitbashes various pieces of JR rolling stock.

Here's a few examples.  He lists the kits he uses in each of these articles and the totals up the cost.

What caught my eye was this type of work equipment which is totally absent from the Kato or Tomix catalog.

Here's his layout. Not much for scenery. The kitbash photos were taken on a rental layout.

This freight EMU for transporting vehicle parts  is a real gem. By looking at such models, one can gain interesting knowledge of the prototype as well.

I would also like to share a link to a Japanese kit-basher. It looks as if he cuts away and combines various DMU and EMU parts, remodels the appearance after specific prototypes and does fine paint jobs including custom graffiti. He also improves out of the box models to achieve a more realistic and detailed look. I came across this website while looking for rolling stock of the JR Kyuhsu Hisatsu Line, and was astonished at how fine the guy modelled it.

The work on these links by these two men is outstanding. I have to admit I takes a brave person to cut a 787 series Tsubame set in half and redesign the car, I couldn't do that for fear of what might happen.
