stevenh Posted April 4, 2011 Share Posted April 4, 2011 I've just heard from a friend living in Higashi-Osaka that the redevelopment has had it's grand re-opening... or some-such titled event. Has anyone over there checked it out yet? I cannot wait to see what it looks like open-air without the claustrophobic platform roofs. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn Posted April 4, 2011 Share Posted April 4, 2011 I was there last weekend. The grand re-opening won't be until May 4. There is still a lot of construction going on with scaffolding in place, and as far as I observed, the roofs haven't been removed yet from the inner platform sections. Escalators going up from the platforms were partially in operation though, however I didn't use them as I typically was making connections with the subway. Link to comment

I just re-read the email after your post and realised it was just a TV article about the new development. The main point my friend made was that a Mitsukoshi-Isetan Department Store will be opening.
