Guest ___
Sorry, sorry, multi-tasking between the GF, and pre-sakura photo shoots. I thoguht they have ED-79's. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Shashinka is right, the ED 79 is the type used in Hokkaido, on the Tsugaru Kaikyo line through the Seikan tunnel. North of Hakodate loco haulage is in the hands of diesels. Until around 1994 the ED76 Bo-2-Bo type was used on trains (passenger and freight) on the Hakodate Main Line between Asahikawa-Iwamizawa-Sapporo-Otaru. With the introduction of the 721 series EMU and the discontinuation of coal haulage, the ED76 type was retired from service. I remember the whiplash-inducing starts on the 50 series passenger trains hauled by these units on Hakodate Main Line locals (circa early nineties). Link to comment
westfalen
Took these shots at Otaru in 1994. Wish I'd paid more attention to them. 1 Link to comment
