Yavianice
Does the Shiki Shima come with pre installed interior lightning? No. But it does have dining lights and light bars already, so the only thing you need are the lights Link to comment
katoftw
I have google the shiz out of this and cannot find an answer anywhere about the new power supplies. What are the input values for it? 100V only or 100-240V? Link to comment

What are the input values for it? 100V only or 100-240V? The power pack manual suggests 100V. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is only 100V, with adapters for 230-240V homes being taken care of by importers such as NOCH to get more easily around the pesky certification costs. Link to comment

katoftw
Thank you. Seems weird they would just release another 100V only supply. Link to comment
Gryphr
I've found two videos on it in operation so far, it seems that thanks to the constant lighting the lights now turn on a bit before the train begins to move, although this is controlled completely with the main power handle instead of having a second knob like the Tomix controllers. The second video seems mention using a 100V-240V Adapter? in the video description although it is not said if it's the stock adapter or an aftermarket one. It is now also on sale from HobbySearch & co., including pictures which sadly do not show the bottom of the power bricks which means we can't read the actual specifications... http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10501349 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10501352 Edited December 26, 2017 by Gryphr Link to comment
katoftw
Thank you. Yes seen plenty of pics. But they all seem to be stock Kato photos and yes you cannot read the specs on the power adaptor. Link to comment
Yavianice
Here are Some pictures I took today of the power pack and the adapter. Some things of note; - kato and tomix CL System is very similar. Which means non-japanese trains may not run properly. - adapter IS 100-240V turns out https://www.dropbox.com/s/qymvrxdyv087n8u/Photo 27-12-2017%2C 15 54 18.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/wtcgp3j8ositfj0/Photo 27-12-2017%2C 15 54 33.jpg?dl=0 1 2 Link to comment

If this is a DC adapter, then the PWM pulses can't be synchronized? Could someone test the transition between two new PWM controllers? Is the output of the power brick AC or DC? (a scope image would also be great) Link to comment
Yavianice
Scope image? I can take more pictures in the next few days. I was in a bit of a hurry when I made these. Link to comment

I meant a picture with the shape of the pwm waveform on an oscilloscope screen to see the frequency of the drive signal. Also it would be good to know if the power brick is really outputting DC, AC or something else (measurable with a simple multimeter) and to see what happens when a train moves between the isolated blocks of two pwm controllers. (if they could stay in sync somehow, especially if plugged in/turned on at different times) 1 Link to comment
Kiha66
YES YES YES! Kato just announced not only the 485 200 series, but also the special 485 stripe-less bonnet Midori express! The two Kuha 481 cars can even combine be coupled together! I am so excited, I've wanted to make the combined Midori/Kamome Limited Express for a long time. Looks like I'll be getting a lot more 485 cars soon. http://www.katomodels.com/n/485kei_200/ (this is the release Info kato posted) Edited December 28, 2017 by Kiha66 2 Link to comment
