clem24
That's a good question, I couldn't find how many of these units will be built by Nippon Sharyo. But if Keisei intends to replace their older AE100 Skyliners one for one with these, they'll need seven trainsets of eight cars each. +1. Actually, what I really like is the way they sound.. It's really noisy, very unique, and sounds like the train weighs a billion tons. But very lovely at the same time. Can't quite describe it. It's nice in the same way that a Ferrari sounds nice! Anyone else who's heard the AE100 feel the same? hehehe. Oh and plus I've always loved the look of them! Way more character than this supposed new train. The retractable headlights and those cool LED tails!!! Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Members of the press were invited to ride the new Keisei Skyliner which ran at full line speed of 160km/h last Wednesday, June 23. Darklighter
I hate the taste of the tea in the first video. On the other hand, I love the Skyliner. The front always reminds me of a stealth bomber. Link to comment

bill937ca
The new Keisei Sky Access route opens later today (on the morning of the 17th Japan time) and the new Skyliner trains will enter service. This Yomiuri news story notes that only 39% of Narita travelers travel by train. Most tourists travel by bus direct from their hotel. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/business/20100716TDY07T06.htm A couple of Japanese language media stories. http://ascii.jp/elem/000/000/532/532246/ http://journal.mycom.co.jp/articles/2010/06/25/skyliner/?rt=na I will post videos when they become available. bikkuri bahn
Thanks for posting. 130km/h on the Hokuso Line is plenty fast, but once the train passes Inba Nihoniidai sta. and enters the new Sky Access Line, you can see the acceleration (and hear? is that traction motor roar??) up to max. track speed. I also see that the fans were already hanging out at the platform ends. Looking at other videos, it seemed most the people at the local stations on the new line were fans (i.e. middle aged males, slightly metabolic, looking anxiously pensive with camera in hand) rather than "civilians". Here's a non-HD video of a Keikyu (new) 600 series on a Haneda AP-bound Access Ltd. Express service going into the "hole" at Narita Yukawa Sta. to let an AE service pass through at 160km/h (starting at about 1:37): 2 Link to comment
