Building under construction - looks like 3 stories right now of iron frame work. from the pictures in the different items it looks like it might be a bit modular and can be put together in several ways. comes with vending machine and porta potties! available in brow and gray

and the best part small lift/tower/construction cranes in red and yellow! i have been looking at scratch building some of these as i want to do some buildings under construction. guess tomytec must have let them in on my brain bug... this is a smaller one, still want to do a bigger one as well eventually.

Jeff - You just gave me a great idea....a quick way to solve my procrastination... all I have to do is put up a few construction sites, add some heavy equipment with workmen holding flags & drinking coffee....and Bingo! I've finished my layout!  :grin

yep just a few bags of evergreen styrene I beams and some chopping and glueing and voila a started building or two! couple of pits being dug and another block done! could even have a block of rubble being cleared away from a demolition, just take all the cutting mat sweepings along with some dirt, done!

i actually didnt buy the building as i figure its pretty easy to assemble my own to whatever size/shape i want for a few bucks of styrene ibeam! did get the cranes though as they are more fiddly to scratch build! i have gobs of fencing now as i bought a few big 4" rolls of silver wire mesh ribbons at the craft store bargain bin for $2 ea. easy to make nice fencing like that with some wire uprights and cross pieces to what ever size you want then.

bit disappointed that they did not mould the bracing in the crane arm, you have to paint the recesses black to pop them.

just got my cranes. one big surprise is that each box has two sets of parts so you can make 2 cranes from each box.

nice its for a small building construction, not a larger high rise. you could use multiple ones on a single building. these use a single pile for the vertical so they can go up easily next to the corners of a building.

only down side is they did not try to do the cross bracing on the boom as open cross works, but just did the cross bracing as relief moulding so you have to try to paint the recessed area black in order to give it the cross bracing effect. bit harsh visually, not sure if it will add to the model to do this other than give it a bit of other color. going to build one with the relief painted and one with out to see which looks better. the cross bracing would not have been that small to do with injection moulding (ive seen smaller on many things this size) and there are two sides to the boom so it would have been doubled up some. this is the one big issue with N scale cranes is doing fine cross bracing like this.

you get a few extras of some barracades and 5 traffic cones and 3 cross bars for the cones (why they didnt do 6 cones with the three bars is odd). also the back of the box has a cut out vending machine, recycling bins, and a few signs. those can be scanned and printed out for more as well...

didnt get the building under construction or the fencing as i have tomytec construction fencing and other stuff and figure ill have more fun with styrene I & H beam stock making my own!

cheers
