al camino
Shipment of KATO KOKI10000 came yesterday while working on my G20 van. I placed the car on my shelf - with the other KOKI(FU)10000 I already have. Hmmm - this one should donate the trucks to the SUNI41 - but ... isn't the 4 car KOKI too nice. I think I will shorten the RESA10000/REMUFU10000 train by one RESA (7 car train instead of 8 car train) and wait until I find Aclass TR203 or another KOKI (leading to same problem again). 4 Link to comment
al camino
The shipment 3 weeks ago brought an OHAFU13 to make a 5 car train from my 4 car train. And my first baggage car - a MANI36. A good addition to the SUYU13 that came to me in May. Unfortunately the EF58 for my Tsubame (Aodaisho) suffered from a longitudinal impact 😟 3 Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
rg-rokko sent me a little picture: The kit has arrived at their shop, they calculated total cost, sent me a payment request, and I've paid for it. Should be starting it's way over to the Netherlands sometime soon. All in all, faster than I expected, and actually also cheaper than I expected, so that's good. Really looking forward to getting the kit. It's going to be quite a challenge building it, but I'm going to take my time and get it right. I definitely also need to start working on a little H0 dual gauge diorama to display stuff on, and take pictures. 2 Link to comment
kevsmiththai
Just a sneak preview, full report to follow. I'm out nearly every weekend at shows at this time of year and when I get chance to get in the workshop wiring Hakuho takes priority but I'll get round to it sooon Chichibu Deki 500 in 3D brass sat on Rokuhan Z shorty chassis Seen running on Republic Steel at Loughborough model railway exhibition last weekend it caused an enormous amount of interest. If anybody has got a decent drawing of the Chichibu hoppers I could use them to do them I 3D printed ABS to go behind it Kev 2 Link to comment
MichiK
Nothing really decent, unfortunately, but from the following you should be able to work out a convincing design: - three World Kougei instructions: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10342413, https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10342415, https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10342416 (the isometric views will probably give more insight into, e.g., the outlets than conventional 3-views would) - graphics of n gauge models: http://www.microace-arii.co.jp/products/img/A2086.jpg - japanese wikipedia gives 7500mm as loa (though this seems a bit short for the hopper plus couplers?); TR41C trucks have a wheelbase of 1650mm AFAIK - at about 3/4 of the page little side views; the scale is 50mm per pixel 1 Link to comment
TimWay4
Today I ordered one of these..... (hopes he's linked properly...) https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10542071 It's a Z Shorty mini layout in a box, I've mostly gotten it so that I can take it to shows with my N-gauge layout as a size comparison, I didn't get mine from HS I bought it from ebay It's costing me £33 including postage from Japan, but I'm bound to get import fees to pay on top of that, but it is what it is. At some point I'll probably buy a couple of other locos to run on it, but for now I can just watch the one that comes with it go round and round 🙂 Link to comment
GDorsett
Ah, yes, that. That is a good little set. Bought it myself for the novelty. Runs off of a single AA battery for several hours. Link to comment

Welshbloke
The Z shorty layout reminds me of the boxfile layout craze which is doing the rounds here. Surprised it hasn't caught on for Z and B Train Shorties in Japan really. Link to comment

al camino
Topic today: What did I miss to order. Surfing at lunchbreak I saw the Aoshima 0J museum EF66 kit as *bargain* 40% discount. Back home and now able to place the PO I saw this has been sold out Sad moment - but tomorrow the shipment with the SUNI41 kit could arrive. Left customs today. Link to comment
al camino
First day of my vacation and postman rang. Lot of work to do which will be fun. I think I'll start with attaching the name plates to my KIHA82s and the Twilight plate to my EF81. (Oh - and I have to attach all the detail parts of the EF81). Then continue with T15. I still need some lettering. I could try to print decals with what I can find on the net. This will be enough for tonight I think. The SUNI shall be the ont to train my sleeping soldering skills. Hopefully my soldering torch will still be o.k. - I did my last brass kit quite a while ago. The final one will be the WOKIFU100. I love the 2 pre-bent housing parts. To get the bending well done is not the easiest task. Edited September 11, 2019 by al camino typos / forum SW spoilt the sequence of the images. 3 Link to comment

I've only had an issue where something didn't fit according to instructions once in about 15 different kits. I did find out that their kits go together quite well using a regular (good quality) soldering station. I've been able to get much better results with that compared to a small soldering torch, even without using any flux. Link to comment

Just for the large ones the torch shall give it's energy. I expect the roof parts of MANI41 to neet the torch. Now I'm having my morning coffee to start in the day. First I have to do some wiring at the G20 van (1:1). The kit will be the late afternoon and evening business. Edited September 12, 2019 by al camino Link to comment

Hi Kev There is no drawing with it. But I will scan all papers that came with the kit. And I could place the parts on my scanner. With the high resolution scan and a few main dimension I'll provide you should be able to set up your 3D printing file. You'll get a PM within the next days (up to 2 weeks). So stay tuned - and be patient . Mission accomplished! 6 hours ago, MichiK said: Oh my, how long are your vacitions going to be? Half a year?! 😅 This would be really great. I waited and watched for a while for some that could run with my D51 as part of a consist. If you lerk long enough you can find rare stuff pop up every once in a while. Half of what I picked up are new in box that where released over 10 years ago. Link to comment
