I used to have a 300 series (Tomix 92639 to be exact), but I STUPIDILY sold it off, thinking I wouldn't want to keep retired trains on my layout. Now I regret and it's kinda dumb trying to find back what I have sold so... If you're ever looking for a new Tomix 300系, I'd advice you to try and find set 92869 instead, it's the most accurate of all the Tomix 300系 sets together with 92997 (the arigatō 300系 set). Though I would personally love to own one of the MA sets (they are, as far as I can see the most accurate 300系 sets ever made, especially in regards to the car end/diaphragm section which Tomix always negates to model, unfortunately), but these are a lot more expensive/hard to find. Will keep an eye on your update of E1 issue cause this can be used for my reference though. Now I am also waiting for the E1 old color 6 car set and hopefully it will run well when arrived. However, my E1 Ibis new color 6 car set is also having issue.. the cars are not really level when you put it down the track and the motor car is just too noisy.. at first I thought it came from the bogies gears, but later I realized it was from the can motor.. sounds just like a blender machine when it is at higher notch.. :D maybe I will post a new thread to ask for some advises.. JR 500系
Amazing 200系, ever the shinkansen guru! Equally impressive shinkansen list! Indeed, the power coupler 300 series would be the one I would go for if ever I would want a 300 series again. But having missed the recent 300 series and the Arigato 300 series costing like XXX so I guess it's sayonara 300 for me... Btw, is the 6 car add-on set of E1 old color also has 1 motor car on it? so in total there will be 2 motor cars? Nope, there's only 1 motor car in my 6 car set. I think it contains the basic 4 car set combined with either 2 of the individually packed carriages or just 2 carriages of the 4-car add on set. The old E1 Max has quite a quite combination of sets to make up the 12 cars... Strange to hear that the newest E1 Ibis is having trouble, being a newer set and all. Davo Dentetsu
Refined taste, Davo :). What's that EF58 in dark blue with the yellow stripe? A Kato one. No box and not really sure about the number for it. I have that to haul the 20 Series about, which is great because when I first started out I had all sorts pulling those old coaches. :P Nice selection - although the Farish Scotrail 158 is a bit of an interloper here! Yeah, it sure is. But since it's my only bit of non-Japanese stock (y'know, a memory of home) I thought in it goes no harm. :) Link to comment

Would you like to refer back to the retailer you bought from? I think for the 6 car set, indeed there's only 1 motor car. But what I questioned about is for the complete set of 12 cars whether there will be 2 motor cars or only 1 motor car to move all the rolling stocks.. in new E1 ibis with power coupler I noticed there are 2 motor cars. About the issue of the motor, I also got it second hand in yahoo auction.. so it's possible to have this issue. I have checked the gears in the bogies or the worm gear, all are OK.. and when I pulled out the motor - it's a canned motor similar to Tamiya motor/dynamo - and tested it by making contact of the two poles with controller's output feeder, I noticed that the noise is like a racing car when it was in higher notch - about 4 or 5 notch.. XD Not a big problem indeed, as the solution maybe I can change this motor in the future, or I will only use one motor from the add-on set (hopefully it will be smoother) thinking that the power coupler will help a lot for running.. Other than that, the rest is OK and I think it's a very beautiful model and really love to have one.. :D Link to comment

korat
Tokyo Metro 01 (Kato 10-864) - first purchase Tobu 20070 (Micro Ace A7972) - remarked with the blue new Tobu logo dry transfers from Panda Model Tokyo Metro 03 (Micro Ace A5072) - most recent purchase Aiming for a couple more tentatively, but nothing definite yet. Perhaps I'll also try picking up a Greenmax Tokyu 1000 8-car set someday (the other 1988 Toyoko-Hibiya-Isesaki/Skytree train), even though I first visited after the Toyoko-Hibiya through service and the 8-car 1000 sets were gone. 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
I finally took a little time out and decided to make a list before it becomes unmanageable like for some folks in the forum and also actually know what I have on hand as they are stored in different places. I classified them the best I know how and from examples of other rosters posted. Please correct or make suggestions if they are out of place and or if there are other categories I should have. Thanks. JR 500系
Oh wow impressive list! But perhaps you copied the text from your spreadsheet directly here and now it is a little difficult to read... Perhaps uploading a screenshot of your spreadsheet would make the list easier to read? I see you have also updated your list with pre-orders ~ Nice. I have a spreadsheet too with all existing pre-orders, so now I am intending to do up the rest with trains from other sources (such as private sales etc.) so I can have a complete database with costs ~~ :) Link to comment
serotta1972
Yes I did copy and paste my spreadsheet and it was just a big blob before I actually separated the text. Your roster was actually what motivated me to do mine and resembles yours except I have way less trains. :) I've cut down a bit on my purchases this summer and have become a little more selective though my criteria remains the same - whatever looks good! 1 Link to comment

I'm honoured! Thanks! I would like to challenge your phase though, in what way is yours 'way less trains'? Already an impressive list! Is there a double entry there on that Kato 10-1282 E257-500? Impressive... And it's nice to see your list with trains for sale too ~ :) And glad to see the Iseshima Liner going back into your roster. It is a really nice train and I think it's great to keep it! kvp
I've finally managed to clean up some of my train boxes and try to find everything. Here is a list of the japanese N scale trains i did find: Shinkansen:Tomix JNR 0 series first run (12 cars)JNR:Tomix JNR 103 series Yamanote line (7 cars)Tomix JNR 103 series Keihin-Tohoku line (7 cars)Tomix JNR 113 series yokosuka color (4 cars)Tomix JNR 115 series yokosuka color (7 cars)Tomix JNR 165 series shonan color (3 cars)Tomix JNR 183 series express color (6 cars)Tomix JNR 583 series sleeper color (7 cars)Tomix JNR ED75 + Tomix 50 series coaches (4 cars)Tomix JNR ED61 + Kato four axle freight cars (2 cars)Tomytec JNR 44,47,51,54,56,68 series yokosuka color (6 cars)Tomytec JNR 41,55 series brown color (2 cars)Tomytec JNR 143 series shonan color baggage (1 cars)Tomytec JNR 144/145 series mow (2 cars)Tomytec JNR 145 series tractor (2 cars)Microace JNR 185 series express color (7 cars)Kato JNR 103 series yellow color (3 cars)Kato JNR EH10 + Kawai express freight cars (9 cars)Kato JNR C56 + Tomix/Kato/Kawai two axle freight cars (12 cars)JR East:Tomix JRE 231 series Yamanote line (6 cars)Tomix JRE 231 series Keihin-Tohoku line (6 cars)JR West:Tomytec JRW 105 series orange color (4 cars)Tomytec JRW 123 series skyblue color (2 cars)Private:Tomix Hakone Tozan Railway moha 1000 grey/orange (2 cars)Modemo Hakone Tozan Railway moha 1 grey/orange (2 cars)Modemo Hakone Tozan Railway moha 2 grey/orange (1 car)Tomytec Hakone Tozan Railway moha 1 grey/orange (2 cars)Tomytec Chichibu Railway 101 series JNR yellow (3 cars)Tomytec Chichibu Railway 101 series JNR orange (3 cars)Tomytec Chichibu Railway 101 series JNR skyblue (3 cars)Tomytec Nagano Electric Railway 2000 series cream/red (3 cars)Tomytec Shonai Kotsu cream/red (2 cars)Tomytec Kanto Railway 800 series cream/orange color (2 cars)Tomytec Wakayama Electric Railway Tama train (2 cars)Tomytec Wakayama Electric Railway Strawberry train (2 cars)Tomytec Tomiden 15m emu brown color (2 cars)Tomytec Tomiden 12m emu cream/brown color (1 car)Tomytec Tobu ED5060 + Kato four axle freight cars (2 cars)Bandai Joshin Electric Railway Deki 1&3 + Tomix 33 series coach (1 car)Trams:Greenmax/Tomytec Tokyo Toden 6000 seriesGreenmax/Tomytec Tokyo Toden 7000 seriesDauphin Tokyo Toden 8000 seriesTomytec Mayonsen 1000 seriesTomytec Hiroshima Electric Railway 1000 seriesKato Hiroshima Electric Railway chicken ramenShorty:Bandai JNR 113 series (4 cars)Bandai Joshin 500 series (2 cars)Bandai Enoden 300 series (1 car) It turns out i don't really have so many trains at all and clearly missing some important JNR era emus. On the other hand, i have a surplus Kato 103 series and a private diesel set that is clearly out of place, together with the AC only ED75. Most JNR trains could be seen around Tokyo and another group are the Hakone Tozan emus. There are a few one off private sets and the two JR East sets are actually meant for the club layout only, while the JR West ones are just for fun but could be run with JNR/JRE trains. The longest cape gauge passenger train is 7 cars long, which shows the length requirement for any future stations/platforms. (my current ones are 2 and 3 cars long) I'll probably update the list if i buy/receive/find more. Edited August 22, 2015 by kvp 2 Link to comment
