JR 500系
You have good taste! :D It's strange that every train you have uses the JR network and/or is from the Tokyo area, but suddenly there's that Kotoden train. :P Not entirely sure if the Odakyu and Tobu trains use JR tracks but they're full-blown expresses as well. Thanks Densha! Yap I try to focus more on Tokyo area since I wish my layout to be focussed somewhere within or near Tokyo outskirts. But suddenly there were more and more trains that I like (blame Kato, Tomix & MA for that) like the 500 series (which is my personal favourite but it only runs on Sanyo and terminates at Shin-Osaka), the Kiha-40 Crab-Squid-Fox which serves Hokkaido (gotta love the cartoon design), the N700-8000 Kumamon/ Kurochan which also terminates at Shin-Osaka, and that Kotoden train that is WAY out of region but couldn't miss due to its lovely cartoons... The 500 and 700 are Kyushu also. While i'm sure the N700-8000 Kumamon and Kurochan belongs to JR Kyushu, the 500 series definitely belongs to JR West. The N700-1000 and 700-7000 Rail Star also belongs to JR West since both of them travel on the Sanyo/ Tokaido lines and terminates only as far as Hakata in Kyushu, while the N700-8000 Kyushu terminates beyond Hakata and goes as far as Kagoshima-Chuo. Odakyu's 60000 type 'MSE' uses the JR Gotanda line (JR Central) in a 6-car formation and the Tōbu 100 type 'Spacia' runs to Shinjuku, which is only possible over JR East tracks (not entirely sure about the exact point where this service merges with JR and Tōbu, but it could be at Kurihashi). In return JR East also runs trains on the same service. JR Central has stopped doing so with Odakyū unfortunately. Link to comment

miyakoji
JR500, how do you like that MicroAce A4140 model? MA's site dates that from 2001. How is the detail compared to more recent models (any brand or prototype)? They have several 185 models, in 2003 there were some in test liveries that I don't think ever existed in prototype which actually look pretty nice I think. Link to comment

I'd actually be pretty keen to know the answer too. I have been eyeing the Kiha 185s of the Yufu Express and Trans-Kyushu-Express, released in 2003 and 2004. Always cautious of buying a 10 year old model due to its running capabilities. Link to comment
JR 500系
JR500, how do you like that MicroAce A4140 model? MA's site dates that from 2001. How is the detail compared to more recent models (any brand or prototype)? They have several 185 models, in 2003 there were some in test liveries that I don't think ever existed in prototype which actually look pretty nice I think. There were two types of 185 series Furu-Furu released, one being the older A4140 from Feb 2001 and the other is the renewal product A4141 from March 2010. To be frank, I didn't check correctly when I got the A4140, which I thought was the A4141. What's the difference you might ask? Well, first off, the older model has a really THICK motor for its motor car! I took some photos of what I mean. It must have been the old model motors, as it's realy thick and really heavy. Performance wise they're ok, runs smoothly like any other newer models so no complaints there. Being so thick, the car body which covers the motor car as it's windows painted black. It is actually car number 6 (6th car from the top) and is susposed to be the Green Car. The entire interior is painted black and there is no Green Car Logo on the exterior neither. What I really dislike is the fact that I cannot install interior lights at all since there are absoluately no holes for interior lights. This really kinda drives me a little crazy since i'm a sucker for interior lights... Colour scheme wise really cant complain as it's really vibrantly coloured. End of the day, I like the colour scheme on this 185, but I do wish it can be interior lighted.... Hoped that helped! Edited March 8, 2015 by JR500 のぞみ 1 Link to comment
E6系
Hello Mr JR500, Did you change the couplers on that Furu-Furu yourself? I have A4141, purchased new. It doesn't have that oversized power plant you photographed, but it comes with Arnold couplers. I plan to change to Tomix 0336 couplers in the near future. Is that what you're using? Link to comment

JR 500系
Updated my list again. Finding it easier to constantly update so lesser items need to be added in each time. Or rather, I gotta stop buying! Finally clinch my Tomix E1 MAX, and in old colour! Gotta be happy! Now I completed my E-series from 1 to 7! :) Hello Mr JR500, Did you change the couplers on that Furu-Furu yourself? Is that what you're using? Hi E6 san: Nope, when I purchased those were already installed by the previous owner. Fantastic work I must say ~ I think the A4141 should be using the Tomix 0336, although I cant confirm. It will be good if you can turn over the car and see if you can see 2 small pins (on each side and on each end) jotting out, that will receive the Tomix 0336 close coupler. Most MA models do take the Tomix 0336 but I might be wrong ~ Link to comment
