This is maybe the nicest looking simple private company Ltd. Express train there is IMO. I do have a GreenMax kit of it laying around somewhere, but I can't bring myself to put it together and paint it in a fantasy company colour. The original version is just too perfect.

I like the steam/diesel transition era.  I only wish I could get such a complete steam roster for the corresponding era on the Santa Fe.

 

One of those is not quite like the others, but I can't be bothered to work out which one it is from the list... what is it?

9600 class 2-8-0 #29660.  I believe a few used as yard shunt engines were painted that colour for better visibility towards the end of steam on Hokkaido.

I thought 29660 was used at Aomori for shunting wagons on and off the train ferries to Hokkaido, hence the cut down tender to aid visibilty.

Actually yes and no, I've been acquiring some new trains but have also been making some chat room deals and have exported a number of trains.

Serotta, congratulations on your shinkansen additions.  It's hard to go wrong when buying a recent Tomix shinkansen.  Their upcoming 200 H formation should be a superb runner with power couplers and 2 motors.  The retooled roof looks stellar, too.  

 

Anyway, today I received a train I've been hunting for a couple years, a used Tomix 92999 30th Anniversary 200 series.  The K47 formation combines the classic green 200 series livery with the renewaled nose.  Aside from a little excess glue on two of the pantograph shrouds (easily removed with no damage), it was mint.  

 

I'll have to shoot a group photo this summer with all four Tomix 200 series formations: F, K (92852), K47, and H.

I have decided to get one or two from the Micro Ace though for 0 series.. haha.. I considered the MA has better details and more prototypical although Tomix might have done the same in terms of prototypical for their later releases.. but I chose MA over the other two..  :)

Didn't appear here for a long time, had a break in a hobby, but return to japanese N scale and also turn from the 1980's period to 1950-60's. First steam loco became C12 from Kato, plus the coach OHANI30 (now recieve more rolling stock of 1920-50's and amaizing new C50 :) )

I finally got a Micro Ace Series 0 Shinkansen and it's with its Kato and Tomix brothers.

LOL thanks. Discipline Is easy with limited funds... I spent most of the year's "fun" budget on yet more studio gear... as if six synths aren't enough lol
