I'm missing an important livery which is the Original JNR 2 Tone but undecided which train model to get.  Is there a specific model that wore it with more distinction.  Right now I'm looking at the Tomix 485 or 183/189.  I will be sticking to Tomix HG for these specific trains.

The Tomix Serie 373 at home with its Kato JR Central cousins.  Kato, please re-release the 383.  I've been on the fence about the MA 383 4 Car set now for some time.  Knowing that a Kato 383 exist is preventing me from pulling the trigger even though the MA is readily available.

I really like the Central Liner the more I look at it... But that would be so hard to get now...

 

Actually the MA 383 series isn't that bad. I got the 383 in MA made too, reason being the same as yours, missed the Kato one. The main difference is the Kato has that patented tilting mechanism that the MA lacks... Just a hint though, the MA 383 series 4-car set you mention doesn't have the Kuro-383 though...

I think I will practice patience with this train model. At the rate models are being re-released Im hopeful this will be one of them in the near future. Also, there are so many more models right now that are very attractive and available. Yes, the collection is growing and finally with some purpose and or direction which may mean some trains outside of my very loose parameters may go on the For Sale section.

Why not enough E3? :) I saw that you already have all E3 models from Kato, which is really nice.. But yeah Tomix also has E3-2000 in Tsubasa color which is better than the new color in my opinion.. if you are about to collect all E3 Tomix, then it will take time for a while.. :)

I highlighted the E3 and 24 series because even though I already have several, I still somewhat irrationally want more. The E3 2000 (old color) that you mentioned would be a nice addition, as would a Genbi E3 if/when it becomes available in n scale.

 

As for the 24 series, a Fuji (Kato, Tomix, or MA) will likely join the fleet soon.

I have the E3-2000 Old Color and Im not feeling the new headlights, seems petty but it just doesn't look right to me. I might be putting it on the For Sale section if I can't convince myself to keep it. I got it because I wanted an E3 with the Tsubasa Old Color but I really wanted the E3-1000.

Actually I was thinking about the decision to get the Tomix for the Doctor Yellow instead of the Kato... The Tomix has power couplers, but missing the overhead inspection lights on its roof... The Kato has these but missing the power couplers...

 

Why no 500 series?   :disgust:

 

I saw somewhere on the forums there is a very attractive 500 series for sale at a really good price....   :P

I had a feeling that you'd notice the Series 500 void in my JR West and Central Shinkansen Fleet.  As beautiful and striking as the Series 500 is, for whatever reason it doesn't appeal to me.  I think it's just way to bold for me and as you can see from my very modest collection, I like fairly conservative designs.  I think we see eye to eye on most other trains except for maybe this one.  I hope you don't defriend me in the forum. :)

 

And yes, I have seen and looked at many the times the great deal on a Series 500 - you're practically giving it away!

All Kato: C12, D51-498, Roundhouse D51-498 Orient Express, Mikado (North American Prototype but Kato made)

 

Kato C50 has been pre-ordered and looking into getting the Tomix 2008 C57.

I am making the swtich to European Trains - Japanese trains are too readily available and are just too darn inexpensive which explains why I accumulated so much of them and Im running out places to hide them. My rationale for this change would be that I would have less trains if switch to European trains because for $200 I would get a 4 car train rather than a 10-16 car train thus addressing the storage issue. The trade off is probably a 3-4:1 ratio / 3-4 Japanese trains : 1 European. Now the hard part is selling off all my Japanese trains.
