bill937ca
By now JAM should be under way and sometime this weekend reports should begin to appear. http://jam.gr.jp/ To give you an idea of what JAM is like, here is a photo report showing booths and exhibits at 2009 JAM. http://www.etrain.jp/event/event.cgi?date=20090821 Link to comment
cteno4
one of our members, philip is there at JAM this year, hope to hear a report soon on it! he got to attend a breakfast w/ mr kato. i made him a pair of special jrm 12' containers as a gift. of course we couldnt give him the usual ones made from the tomix blank containers, but i had to strip a couple of kato jrf containers to make them to save face! really would be grand to attend someday! one of the australian clubs contacted jrm last year about trying to do a join up at JAM sometime, would be a grand idea! cheers jeff Link to comment

KenS
Thanks for posting that video Bill. I'm very interested in the bus system; I'm thinking of trying to use it for the bus park under my viaduct station somehow (I have a few of the Tomytec busses). Link to comment

cteno4
Have you seen the Pro Hobby container kits? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10115170 yep ive had the new sets on preorder since they went on hw. its a nice set of decals, but expensive for blank containers. the tomix blanks are the cheapest, but they are OOP right now. next is the kato 5 packs, but then you have to strip them. then Hogarakadou came out with blanks that are the next best deal per piece (no stripping, may be worth it!) i hope tomix does another production run of blanks, they were half the price of anything else and made it economical to do the run of jrm containers. we want to do more, but have bought out all the tomix blanks everywhere. i keep hoping tomytec will get into containers at some point, but maybe they think the selection in regular containers is good enough. wish they would release some of the containers they have on their truck sets. the rr daughters seem to be the only odd foray into this area as containers alone. maybe too much competition with prohobby, kato, tomix, hogarakadou, and others. cheers jeff Link to comment

I liked the Tenshodo display - the EF electrics with sound are winners, but what I really liked was the Toshiba 40ton steeplecabs...I'm almost going for one, and being plastic the price is good too! Cheers NB Link to comment
marknewton
Nick, I have one of these steeplecabs already, with another one on the way. I don't think you'd be disappointed if you get one! Cheers, Mark. Link to comment

There will be an English language report on Hobby Search's blog, early next week I hope. Link to comment
cteno4
yeah theoretically they could just make new moulds for the ties/ballast and then assemble as they do regular unitrak to have a whole line of concrete ties. question will be how they ballast these. the samples looked to just be white styrene prototypes. still no word from philip, but he may not have a laptop with him and probably running around having too much fun to go send emails anyway!! cheers jeff Link to comment
westfalen
The Google translation of the photo's caption is " Siro2 鉄道模型コンベンションで公開されました白いユニトラックの試作品です。 Uni-Track is a prototype model railroad convention was published in white. 今までのグレーのレールを見慣れている者にとっては新鮮です。 For those who have until now familiar gray rails are fresh. 雪原をゆくジオラマの再現・開通したての高架線の再現(?)・ディスプレー用・いやそのまま車両を走らせてもかっこいいです。 Reproduction of elevated opening fresh snow passes through the reproduction of the diorama (?) Is cool, but still no running vehicle for display purposes. 現在のところ販売形態等未定です。 And type of sale is currently pending." My take on it is that the track is for creating snow covered scenes and is intended to be white. If you look at the photo even the Unijoiners are white, if it was just a preproduction run of new track you wouldn't think they'd go to the trouble of doing white unijoiners to match. Link to comment
to2leo
I cannot wait for other surprises that Unitrack's 30th anniversary will come out. I honestly was hoping Kato will come out with turnouts that are either in viaduct, curve, 3-way and in Unitram by now. Link to comment

I honestly was hoping Kato will come out with turnouts that are either in viaduct, curve, 3-way and in Unitram by now. A rerun of the currently unavailable level crossing but DCC compatible would be nice, along with No.6 turnouts that give the same 33mm double track spacing as the rest of Unitrack. The crossing hasn't been cataloged for a while and I often wonder if it's undergoing a major redesign. Chemically weathered rails would also be a nice addition to save me painting them.
