is there a problem with the springs themselves? on aaron's de10 it was the motor that got gummed up the springs seemed fine. the motor came sans spring drive shafts so i just levered them off the old motor and installed them on the new motor. just use a pari of small needle nose plyers to slowly work them off the motor's drive shaft from the inside out. compression on the spring makes it give up its grip some but pulling on it will tighten the grip (think chinese fingercuffs.)

cheers
