Hmm.. The 300 series looks.. Just like their current 300 series release ahahaha. The 800-1000 is a welcome model. I wonder if it will be based on the existing 800 series with the TS couplers or if they're going to fit it with the ring/hook and power couplers? I also really like the underbody add-on details for the Cassipoeia! I guess they're following Kato's lead but the Tomix one definitely looks better, especially since they're body mounted. It's all new tooling. i would assume power coupler is the new tooling since there really is no problem with the motor in it. thought they might change that to a newer one. Was part of their announcement it was a new model and the old number will be stopped. anyone wishing to get the old one, add ons etc should do so now if you have a car set but have not got the addon Link to comment

The_Ghan
Keitaro, I was told that the old Tomix 300 series were not prototypically correct and that the new one will be. Thus, I've ordered the new one. I've noticed a few of the older ones are now on ebay. Perhaps others are preparing to do the same. Massimo, The 800 series must be very popular with railway modellers. What else would generate so much interest from the manufacturers? Perhaps GM might release the other two consists in kit form. Then the whole fleet will be modelled. Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment

The current release with the 700 series style panto 92808/809/810 is 100% prototypically correct. It's just that they reused their old moldings where possible and even reused the old interiors. A 20 year old mold LOL. 1 Link to comment
CaptOblivious
HS has the new FineTrack Crossing up. Clearly designed to compete with Kato's latest offering. The rendering looks nice, I think: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10175545 Link to comment
westfalen
A few things about it that don't appeal to me though it's just a computer drawing, not the real thing yet and HS's translation as usual is a bit ambiguous in places. Looks like you have to buy the sensor tracks http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10066031 separately which would add to the price and unlike the Kato crossing would not be DCC compatible, and if it's like video I've seen of the old one it doesn't appear to have sensors on the crossing itself to realistically raise the gates as soon as the train has cleared like the Kato crossing does. They don't seem to have miniaturised the mechanism to the extent Kato has so they still need the building to house it. It is interesting that it looks like it can be used on curves though. KenS
I agree with your concerns. On the other hand, on the first Yokohama Festival video, it does appear to raise as soon as the train clears it (that could just mean the sensor was located adjacent to the crossing). And one nice thing about it is that the two don't come down at the same time. Just like on a real one, the exit gate comes down a bit later, to allow cars to get off the crossing. There's a comment in the HS description which appears to say it wouldn't work with "Double track rail, rail slab, mini curved rails, Super Mini Curve rail, tram rails" track. It's also limited to four tracks, rather than six (but who has room for even four?). Link to comment

It looks a lot better in real life than the drawing HS has, the arrows that show which direction the train is coming from even light up (I wonder if they actually show the direction the train is coming from?). My only concern now might be it's DCC compatibility, I actually hope it's not because I might be wishing I'd waited instead of getting the Kato one. Link to comment
The_Ghan
Does anyone know if or when Tomix might re-release the 583 series and associated add-ons? I'm referring to: 92326 - Basic 5 Car Set 92327 - 2 Car Add-On Set (motorised) 92328 x 2 - 2 Car Add-On Set (trailer) x 2 8915 - Sleeping Car SaHaNe 581 8916 - Dining Car KiHaShi 581 I believe this makes the prototypical consist as operated in the 1970's and 80's. keitaro
i'm sure no one would have any idea on this. the 92326 is in stock in the local stores in japan though i guess you may be able to ninja one whilst over there later this year. Link to comment
The_Ghan
keitaro, Really? I can't find stock anywhere. If we can manage to find all that we need, would you be willing to pick it up when you're there? If so, I would DD funds to your account when you know the full price. Otherwise, I don't mind paying postage. Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment

Cheers The_Ghan sure though i won't be there till july though Maybe we should all band together and trick HS into ordering the product. If we can get 30 forum users to signup for the restock email they might try order some  edit scratch that tomix does not have stock ... but there are plenty of stores that claim they do. The_Ghan
I've already registered with HS. I also saw that Tomix don't have stock of 92326. I've googled but can't find any shops with stock. Are you googling in Japanese? Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment
