Im not sure where to put this topic besides the general section since there is no "Vehicle" section, If it belongs elsewhere please move it.

I'd like to toss out a suggestion to an N scale manufacturer to produce a Japanese vehicle, My obvious choice was the Japanese Mini Truck or the Kei truck. What would you like to see made?

I love Kei trucks too. Tomytec has done some in the past. They will hopefully come around again.

I really want to customize some of the Kei trucks I have to match ones I've seen in Japan. This tiny rolling bakery truck for example.

They had the best melonpan.

I want to see Tomytec do the new Toyota JPN Taxi.

A bit late in the thread but going back to @maihama eki's pictures above, on our last trip to Japan we saw a similar truck off the street and on a paved area.  However, the owner had placed a tarp on the ground so that the truck would sit on that.  A nice detail to remember for a modeling scene.  Probably have a picture of it somewhere - need to see if I can dig it out.

Wow! Nice.

I swear they watch JNS! I once started a little food cart construction from scratch and half way through it Tomytec announced their line of food carts!

wonder what you get for ¥4950.

Yeah I have a ton of Tomytec vehicles I got very cheap over the years. I can easily add 0201 LEDs for headlights or a bit of fiber optics. Problem with lighting the  you need to light all the non parked cars!

This is a tough one. I want my city to be all lit up at night, and have thought about lighting vehicles, but as @cteno4 said, if I do one then I have to do them all! The Kato cars look great, but that's a steep price for anything more than a small diorama. I might have to just pass on these and leave my cars in the dark, or revisit DIY headlights for my vehicles in the future.

I'm excited they exist though! It will be cool to see when people get them, and what they do with them, etc. I'll be keen to see details on voltages, etc. Maybe I'll be tempted to get a couple... If they don't sell out immediately, that is... (I do have an infatuation with Toyota Hiace and other similar boxy Japanese vans.)

One issue with plugs on cars is making holes wide enough to fit the plugs…

Hobby Search has the Kato Kei Trucks/Vans in stock again. These are pretty nice quality. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10844968

Not sure there’s a large interest for experimental prototypes. Kato were going to do the Alfa-X some years ago then canned it. Tomix did a poll about 5 or 6 years ago for 3 options for their next release. One of the options was the 911 diesel prototype but the most votes went for a 0 type shinkansen. Tomytec have some license as they produced capsule pura-rail versions.
