Odakyu RSE Romancecar and Mt. Fuji

Nice video.  The line pictured is the Gotemba Line, which is a JR Tokai route.  The Ltd. Express Asagiri pictured has running rights on the line to Numazu.  For history buffs, this line is interesting, as it was the route of the original Tokaido Line (bypassing the mountainous Hakone area) before the opening of the Tanna Tunnel in 1934.  It was also once double track, and was the stomping grounds of the big D52 mikes up until the late sixties, based out of the roundhouse at Kozu:

I wish the weather would cooperate with me like that, I rode the Gotemba line in 2006 and you wouldn't have seen Mt Fuji if the train had ran into it. ???

This train looks a lot like JR Tokai 371 Series, the one that runs the Asagiri service.

The Odakyu RSE and the JR Series 371 run in joint operation from Odakyu's Shinjuku terminal to Numazu. The basic specifications for performance and capacity are the same for both series of trains.

Speaking of Romancecars, currently 3 LSE 7000 and 2 HiSE 10000 trains have been ordered withdrawn from service by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for what Odakyu says will be an extended length of time because of cracks in the articulation joints.  Also affected are 2 HiSE sold by Odakyu to the Nagano Electric Railway several years ago.  Odakyu advises that observation deck seats may not be available for some time to come.
