Buried deep in N Gauge Steam Locomotive website there are several layout plans. These layout may give you ideas you want to use or ideas you don't want to use. This site dates back to 1996 and the most recent update was 2023.1.18.

 

900x 600 Kato plan

Layout with a large terminal station

A layout that once appeared on the cover of the 1975 Tomy N Scale catalog and uses Tomix Finetrack.  Size is 1710 x 820 mm, curves R243 and R280. It can be endless or end to end.

1970s Sekisui metal catalog layout

Sekisui Metal is better known by its trade name Kato.  This layout appeared on the covers of catalogs in the 1970s. Size is 1000 x 600mm, curves R249 and R282.

Bandai's "Mini Mini Rail"  Layout

Dating from the 1970s, Bandai's "Mini Mini Rail"  was a railroad toy powered by batteries with a gauge a little over 10mm.
