These cats didn't seem to want to be friends. They appear well looked after so I don't know if they are strays or not. I find cats in Japan are often a bit wary of humans, more so than in the UK where they will usually come over for some fuss. Not sure what these two were up to.

Here you can see how narrow the "pavement" is. Some roads really are not good for walking, but people do anyway. I crossed over so that I had cars coming towards me, it's safer that way.

This is another great Hard Off. It's like living in an RPG, the shops that are hardest to get to have the best stuff.

They will even let you borrow a van for free for 60 minutes.

Some Amiga parts, one for the original Amiga 1000 and another for the Amiga 1200.

I'd love to know how these got here. The Amiga wasn't hugely popular in Japan, not least because Commodore never released a Japanese version of the OS. As far as I know Japanese support was always extremely basic, pretty much down to the application alone in fact. Never the less, there was a bit of a following in Japan, although it was mostly from about 1992-3 onwards so an Amiga 1000 part, rare in the West, must have some interesting history.

I was fussing over him and ended up missing the train. That was kinda bad because there is only about 1 train an hour on the Mito line. It's single track. Still, can't deny a friendly cat.

Hard Off in Hamura. You sometimes find test equipment at Hard Off. Prices are sometimes good, sometimes terrible. If I lived in Japan I could build a great lab with this stuff.

That data recorder is an interesting device. 16 input channels, fairly low sample rate, output to floppy disk or to a computer.

Wasn't planning to get another calculator, but this was in the junk section and was very cheap. You can buy a replacement LCD for 20 bucks so I decided to take a chance on it.

This particular example is older than I am.

Enoshima. West of Yokohama. There is an island just off the coast with a bridge linking it to the mainland. Around new year they have lights. There is some kind of hotel/hot spring thing there to.

Thank you! Yes I have been to Enoshima a couple of times, just not at Christmas. Yes I think the hot spring place has some cool interiors there and apparently views of Mount Fuji, though I have not found a good opportunity/reason to visit it...
