cteno4
does look nice, but ouch on the price! Link to comment
ToniBabelony
The price is steep indeed, but for a motorised unit with front/end lights and custom painting, it's not too bad I think. Especially when you consider it coming from a small factory. The base is a new mould, which isn't cheap to produce. I hope they'll release an unpainted kit version of the body as well. I know some people who could use it very well xD Link to comment

JR 500系
Cute and Beautiful train! I'm so pre-ordering this! Here's the video of the real train: I like the song! Shimanekko-go ~~~ March is a colourful and fun month! * Side note, how did HS get all the top information so quickly from Tomytec? Realised that the pre-order from Tomytec sets are shown in HS even before the original Tomytec website... Edited November 22, 2013 by JR500 のぞみ Link to comment

ToniBabelony
HMBJNBHLI! KUMAMON! YEAH! FOR THE GLORY OF SATAN! My wife likes Kumamon. I like trains... Hmm... It's a bit expensive for only eight cars though (and no my wife ain't gunn' chip in). Edited January 17, 2014 by Toni Babelony Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
I wouldn't consider that a painted train, more a regular train with a few stickers randomly slapped on ;) Link to comment
cteno4
yeah, but so far its about all they have done to really do painted shinkansens... jeff Edited January 17, 2014 by cteno4 Link to comment
JR 500系
HHhmm... this looks like a nice shinkansen! It's one of the very few painted ones like Jeff mentioned... Wife loves the colour, i don't have a WEST N700 yet, it's 8-car in length and prototypical correct, so probably this is on pre-order for me ~ Speaking of which, here's another painted train release by MicroAce scheduled June which was left out? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10258656 It's call the Misuzu Shiosai, and here's a video of it: Pretty strange colours, with triangle and circle windows? 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Interesting, sort of looks like an American southwest design. Jeff 1 Link to comment

Guest keio6000
yeah, but so far its about all they have done to really do painted shinkansens... jeff holycrap. they took that beautiful, elegant jr west n700 with its subtle eggshell blue base colour and elegant stripes... and plastered cartoon bears on it. ok, on balance they're hardly the worst of the 'painted trains' cartoon nonsense that we've seen (hello, mangattan liner!), but, still.. cartoon bears. the jr west n700 is reasonably high on my wish list - had a 7 car set in my hands in akihabara for jpy 9000 in perfect used condition.. and put it down (idiot!).. maybe a bears version will lower the price of the normal version :) Edited January 19, 2014 by keio6000 Link to comment
Densha
Did someone mentioned this Odakyu event train before? Made by both MA and GreenMax. Weird. Older models from MicroAce can still be found regularly, even where I live (Odakyuland pur-sang)... Also, it's pretty ugly IMO. I guess it's worth because of the sales, as it's one of the few not blue lined Odakyu commuter trains. A better choice would have been a variation of an F-train (Doraemon design on 3000 type), but license fees are probably hampering the creation of that... xD Link to comment

cteno4
It's actually a pretty nice painted train on the layout, gathers a lot of attention from visitors and was sort of our escape from running Thomas trains, kids think it looks close enough to call it Thomas. The engine though in real life and model is a dummy! The train was a traveling tech exhibit I think done by hitachi. Jeff Edited January 30, 2014 by cteno4 Link to comment

JR 500系
Now that I have temporary be able to paste links (kudos to E6 san on this), I can share these information that popped up on Tomytec's site a few days ago: http://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/lineup/tetsudou/2set_038.html Shimanekko in pictures! Glad I pre-ordered... The pink looks good and the graphics are perfect! http://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/lineup/tetsudou/2set_039.html Didn't now about this set... Even HS hasn't uploaded any picture for this. But once I saw this I knew I liked it and had to get them. Nice painting! Link to comment
