How many of those do even exist? Wiki doesn't really help me there. 7 KuRo 380 series cars were built: 1 to 5 for "Super Kuroshiro" services in 1989 (381 series in service until 2015 and renamed simply "Kuroshiro" in 2012) and 6 - 7 for "Super Yakumo" services in 1994 (renamed simply "Yakumo" in 2006). They were manufactured by JR West's Suita workshops (1 to 5) and Goto workshops (6 and 7). They were also based on the KuRo 381-10 series (units 11, 12 and 13) converted in 1988 from SaRo 381 green cars, and used until 2008 on JR Central "Shinano" Services. Unit KuRo 381-11 is preserved at the SCMaglev park in Nagoya. 1 Link to comment

The one I rode was KuRo 380-7 (So exactly the same set that's being released by Kato this month) Edited January 24, 2018 by Suica Link to comment

I went the whole line until Izumoshi and saw a total of five or six 381 series sets on the way. Wiki doesn't really help me there. here's a real old thread of mine with some YT videos of the same journey you did: 2 Link to comment
