cteno4
Oh groan.... Cc will hate those. I've got the ma 10 car 200-1000 and it's runs well. Right up there with other single power car tomix and kato units (w/o all wheel pickup), so I expect to be fine. Jeff Link to comment
KenS
They've also just announced the Series 485 "Zipang" http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10206560 What a cool-looking train. I want one too even if it doesn't make it as far south as Tokyo (my usual modelling bounds). At US$180 that's an expensive train though. The Japanese Wikipedia page seems to be saying that it's based out of Morioka, and something about a World Heritage Hiraizumi site, but Google seems to have more trouble than usual making sense. There are some nice photos of the interior (and exterior) on that page too. It seems to have some kind of display in one of the cars, and the seating is designed for people to look directly out at the scenery. I'd guess it's aimed at promoting regional tourism. Ochanomizu
One is confused by the interior of this train. Is it emerald green forest to clash with exterior color. Confusion exists within if it is a chinese restaurant or entrance to the Star Tours ride at Disneyland. 1 Link to comment

Densha
Delays, delays and more delays: http://ngi.blog.eonet.jp/n_gauge/2013/02/micro-ace-47c4.html (The E926 too Ken!) On better news: The February items have just been released, including some Shikoku and Kyushu diesels and some EMUs. http://www.microace-arii.co.jp/release/forecast.html Most are sold out already HS, but as almost always they will probably have extra stock in a few days, not to forget that there's other shops too. http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=104&scope=1&scope2=2&ItKey=Micro+Ace Edited February 15, 2013 by Densha Link to comment

clem24
I am with Massimo.. Almost all the 'original run' Shinkansen from Microace will come with a defective chassis. Something about the metal they used causes them to be brittle and start to fall apart. You'll notice it when the chassis warps. Then when you try to take it apart, the chassis litterally crumbles in your hand. My A0259 set is suffering from this very problem, as did an original run Doctor Yellow set that I eventually sold for Massimo for cheap. So aside from taking it out every once in a while to look at it, I will never run it (or as Massimo points out, buy a more current chassis swap over the motor car bits). The set is great if you're a die hard collector / completist, but otherwise, I'd skip it and go for their current releases. It's a bummer that MA released the chassis for the 300 series Shinkansen as a separate item but it's completely different from their older Shinkansen releases. Link to comment
Minelayer
Hello, If this problem is evident in the MA shinkansens produced in 2002 how far does this issue extend to? I have some sets that came out in 2006...would this chassis problem be applicable to this year as well? Thank you in advance for your response. Ray Link to comment
Densha
Great stuff coming for Tohoku Kiha fans: http://www.microace-arii.co.jp/poster/img/13_04w.jpg JR East Kiha23, Kiha 48, and Kiha 58/28 coming in Tohoku livery. Also the JR Hokkaido Kiha40-330, but note that Tomix has alreadyreleased a variation of this, the Kiha40-100. And the Shinkansen 200 series in a different livery then usual with an extra stripe. 1 Link to comment
keitaro
the recent shinkansens are fine btw i got one last year it`s great it does not have this issue. couplers are not as good as tomix or kato but they do the job fine and pretty strong so not easy to break. there also doing a new steamer 9600 - 29622 this new steamer has a revised motor unit I`m not sure in detail what is revised but hopefuly it`s an improovement to compete with katos`s new smaller unit. 9600 is another fav so i shall order off myself Link to comment

Ochanomizu
Very excited the painted train of the 485系 Zipang and the Seibu Galaxy Express 999. The choice I had to make torn my heart. In the end I have ordered Zipang. Perhaps regret. So sorry Mr keitaro, the order placed long before your business commenced. Link to comment
JR 500系
Zipangu is already on the pre-ordered list! Was amazed to see the actual pictures of the product! Loving the insane details and the lovely balck and yellow!! No regrets on this pre-order man! Thanks Densha for sharing the pictures! Link to comment
Densha
I like those two trains also very much Ochanomizu, the Galaxy Express 999 train looks very cool although I haven't seen the anime. Not to mention they are both not in the area I model. JR500, once in a while I check up on all new releases and pictures on this blog (http://ngi.blog.eonet.jp/) and on the webpages of the manufacturers: http://www.katomodels.com/product/poster/ http://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/ (posters on the right) http://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/ Do you also know of Micro Ace's poster page? cteno4
some do refer to it as the tobu pig as it does have a pig's snout appearance. but i take that as actually a good thing, i like pigs. i have the previous run and love it, it has an attitude as a model that you can see at a bit of a distance. its such a great retro look to it. got the lines of some classic 50s and 60s cars going. quite fun! for as strange as it is it does have some very nicely done curves and transitions going on in it. i also think its one of those trains that when you see in real life it has a much more amazing look to it. photographs dont give the mind a lot of scale and perspective that you get standing there with the naked eye much of the time! I also think this is a train that in person will look interesting and good from a lot of different angles and many trains dont have this. Bilbao is this way. Photos looked great and really interesting, but going into the place and walking around the building were a totally different experience. the place is amazing as inside its almost impossible to pick a viewing angle of the interior that funky. most building are full of this as they are usually designed for the cad fly thru views and thus when you get off into the corners and odd places things can all of a sudden go asunder. jeff Link to comment

I really didn't see what's so special about it until I saw the real thing in real life ;) (which reminds me, I still need to get Kato's Broadway Limited car set to go with the GG1 at some point ....) 1 Link to comment
