Claude_Dreyfus
It was my birthday the other day, and I was fortunate to get a rather decadent present from Mrs Dreyfus. A Lego Ce 6/8 ii Crocodile! I'm rather fond of the Swiss Crocs. I had taken a day off work, and a good 5 hours ended up being taken with putting this together. A most agreeable way to spend an afternoon... 8 Link to comment
Kiha66
What a fun model! Lego really did a home run with this one. 1 Link to comment

Claude_Dreyfus
It is a most gratifying model to assemble. I didn't set out to build it in a single afternoon...it just sort of happened. There is the option to motorise it if required, although mine will stay static; at least for the foreseeable future. 1 Link to comment

Yes, we'll be motorizing ours. I didn't realize there wasn't a motor in the set. Thank. I'll need to pick one up! 1 Link to comment

Sheffie
Finally, three weeks after the birthday it was supposed to commemorate, I got hold of one of the trains that used to go past my house when I was a kid. The locomotive isn’t prototypical but I prefer this one. And I’m relieved to report that it’s fairly quiet and low geared, so it runs smoothly at low speeds. Also in this order, a couple of freight wagons for my class 17 diesel to push around. The Bogie B van (on the left) is weathered... so I may experiment with that on the CCT too. Not pictured: a couple of Vulcan bombers and miscellaneous folderol that accompanied the loco to justify calling it a collector’s edition. 1 Link to comment
Welshbloke
One thing I've found to work well is a simple wash of brown. I've been using Games Workshop Agrax Earthshade but you probably get the same results by just watering earth brown paint down. It settles into all the planks and panel lines/frames/etc and makes the detail pop out, as well as toning the paint down from ex works to "in service for a month or two and a bit grubby around the edges". 2 Link to comment

I always wanted an OO version of that when I was a kid. They didn't go by my house but I'd see them whizzing by on the various BBC and ITV shows I was weened on. Link to comment

There’s a few nice optional details, the lights are super bright, and it weighs a ton so it should have no difficulty pulling a train. 1 Link to comment
Welshbloke
Had these for a few months, but finally got around to filming a mini review: Hoping they release the other Arosa Express coaches this year, I'm wondering if they're waiting for the next batch of Kato EWIs to provide raw materials. They appear to have dropped the plans for the salon 1st, but another 2nd and the luggage van (not the same as the Kato announcement) will be welcome. 2 Link to comment
railsquid
Another addition for my Berlin S-Bahn fleet: Rivarossi "Minitrain" Berliner S-Bahn by Rail Squid, on Flickr for running as a preserved museum train: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Bahn_Berlin#/media/Datei:Historischer_Zug_der_S-Bahn_Berlin_in_Gesundbrunnen_1.jpg 5 Link to comment

serotta1972
I have a thing for Cabooses or Cabeese. Just got these little guys but actually kinda big compared to my other trains as these are O Scale. Nice models and very detailed and supposedly it has full interior and figures but you can’t see inside because the windows have some nice metal etched screens. 😁 3 Link to comment

Sheffie
I just wanted to post to recommend this Farish locomotive. It’s only available as part of a collector’s edition box right now, but there’s a chance of it becoming available separately in future (based on the fact that one of the aircraft models in the set is now available on its own). Locos are always a gamble, and British ones even more so. This one seems like the best one in my collection, based on the first weeks of running. It’s very nicely detailed, it runs very smoothly at low speeds, I t’s very heavy so it shouldn’t have problems pulling heavy loads, and it has an actual beam casting headlight. Kamome
I love the class 37s and this large BR logo one looks very nice. I am very tempted by both this and your mark 2 coaches.. I'd also like a IC125 in BR blue at some point but again, I have too many other Japanese things I'd like first. A working layout would be a good start. I actually remember seeing the last remaining Vulcan XH558 flying at Farnborough Airshow in about 2008 or so. Those delta wing bombers from the Cold War were just phenomenal things to see flying. Thankfully they were unnecessary but still an amazing feat of engineering. I had a 1:72 Airfix model of one hanging from my ceiling as a young lad, which was enormous. 2 Link to comment
Sheffie
Farish is threatening to release a swath of class 37’s any time now. I’ve got the green one pre ordered already. https://railsofsheffield.com/search?Personalise=false&searchTerm=Class+37&Category=Class+37&Gauge=N+Gauge&SortMethod=Relevance&PageSize=24 Edited March 11, 2021 by Sheffie Link to comment
chadbag
The story of the Vulcans and the Falkland war is interesting. Especially having to raid "gate sentinel" decommissioned ones for parts to get enough with refueling capability in the air... IIRC 1 Link to comment
gavino200
For me, the Vulcan will always be associated with 007 and Thunderball. Awesome plane! 2 Link to comment
