Pauljag900
So I ve started a winter project. Based on no where or anything in particular but will use ,up a lot of stuff I ve got here already so will be a bit of a mish mash. Building it for the grandkids to use in the house really.Buildings around one side and the back ,fenced off with a grassed area in the Center, a fairground and carnival in the Center, thomas and Percy will run the tracks and will be incorporated as a fair ride.Using Kato 150/183 curves. 2 Link to comment
Pauljag900
Appologies for the simplicity of the cabinet but I do nt posess the skill set of jeff😂😂👍 Made from 12mm mdf it will be painted white and sit on an ikea coffee table in the dining room. it will have a glass front and lid with the controllers and all the switches for the various lights and fair rides on the outside. theres a 4” void In the bottom to hide all the electrics and controllers and will have one on off switch to power all of them. 7 Link to comment

Kiha66
Improving my airbrushing skills! Cheap and dirty spray booth from some spare card stock, and then using spoons as paint chips. Now I'll have a better idea of how the dried colors will look when deciding how to paint future models. (I believe I over thinned the blue, so it ran much more than it should) 8 1 Link to comment

Khaul
Today I finished ballasting the inner track. The last bit left was between the buildings and the Unitrack plastic bed. Once dry I added a bit of rust with a dry brush to make a better transition between plastic and rock ballast. And, finally, I put a bit of grass. Now all the base board is finally covered in module #1. This is how it looks: The photographer was documenting the track status for JNR. He then jumped back up to the platform and took another photo there: Edited October 11, 2018 by Khaul 12 Link to comment
Pauljag900
Thanks mate. the trains do nt really fit in with the main layout but are very popular with the grandkids😂😂the main layout can also be quite complicated to operate at times so I had a sort out a few weeks ago and found lots of stuff I d forgotten I had.The buildings are from the tram layout which is getting changed next year and so nt be needed. The grandkids can play with this without causing any damage as it will have a glass front and lid with all the controls on the shelf on the outside. 2 Link to comment

NXCALE
These days I went full on and designed/printed almost all parts of my Tomytec (moving) bus lanes. The guiding wires have been already installed. My design includes holes on each piece so screws can be used to put the lanes together without glue (hard to see but the screws are there). The bus lanes fit perfectly in the module. The station will have four bus stopping/departing points (two on each side). At the moment, only one stopping/departing point has been installed (i.e. it has servos). The thing is working and so far there are no issues or dramas. 9 Link to comment

NXCALE
Thanks!!! Actually many of the bus lanes are just copy and paste (i.e. the "magic" of the computer) from my first design... hahaha. 1 Link to comment
JR 500系
Very nicely done! Cant wait for the bus module to be completed and up and running! Well done! @Khaulsuperb job on that detailing mate, especially the tracks! Absolutely love the entire feeling it portrays, really lovely! @Pauljag900 really nice! I like the Thomas layout! Bet your grandchildren would have a blast of their time playing it! 3 Link to comment
comeng84
After almost 3 years, I set up my "temporary" layout to spend most of the day playing with my trains. My kids loved it. Let me share with you some happy snaps... taken with my phone so apologizes for the quality. So the base is a cheap large door I purchased from a hardware store. Its only a solid frame door, so lots of void to run cables inside. I used a small cutting blade to cut a rectangular hole through both sides of the door so I can run the cables for the feeder tracks and automatic signals. Its a "standard" size door so adding any future sections should be ease. Trains in this picture - ED79 56 pulling a rake of Taki 1000's and an E231 Shonan Shinjuku Line train. EF66 19 passing through the station pulling a rake of Koki's and Wamu's. Rake of Taki hauled by a double header: ED79 8 and ED79 104. EF66 19 waiting for a signal at the station. cteno4
More Ttrak rolling out of the the shop for club members. We are doing a push for 33mm spaced modules to have a backup layout for smaller shows. Here are 4 2x full depth modules to get to TOC. A set of corners going to him next. His will make a little 6’x30” sectional Ttrak layout. another set of corners and four 1x full depth and two 1x full depth depression modules to make another small sectional Ttrak layout for another club member are all cut and ready to assemble. Also six 2x 12” deep for another club member (Long station, yard and some other bits) and two 2x full depth depression modules for another (two different bridges). these are 2” high modules. Faced them with cherry veneer so it can be varnished and look much prettier that painted black. biggest bummer is our big box store now sells poplar 5mm underlaminent instead of Luan... the poplar is very soft (stare at it hard and it will dent!) and tends to vary in thickness up to 0.3mm and has a super super thin outer skin. Luan was very tough skinned and more consistent in thickness and also less prone to warping. They still sell it in quarter sheets at twice the price and cutting it into a 2x4 is horrid for efficiency of cuts for Ttrak modules. Going to have to see if the big ply place over in virgina still carries it and do a big run! Cheers jeff Edited October 14, 2018 by cteno4 5 Link to comment
Kiha66
Those look great Jeff! Let me know if you go into business, I'll certainly be interested in becoming a costumer. 😁 Link to comment
cteno4
Yeah I could crank them out and maybe make $5 per hour! Shipping is the killer on Ttrak modules and kits. Sadly makes the kits really expensive, hence why I’m producing a lot of them for club members so we can get a lot of modules in production at a minimum of cost. did get me to put together the dubby cross cut sled for the table saw. Great for mass producing many bits and doing super square cross cuts up to 20”. jeff 2 1 Link to comment
